Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (two seasons) hits many of the "likes", but possibly also some of the "dislikes". I liked it because:
• It combines detective/thinking with fast-action moments, comic moments, and philosophy.
• It builds each main character in the series, with some episodes dedicated to give a fuller picture of that character.
• Well written.
If you decide to watch it, make sure that the "Tachikoma days" shorts are included at the end of each episode. At first they just seem unrelated short sketches, but then they prove to give insight into the plot.
