Inzwischen funktionieren alle Ad-Blocker und anti-Tracker-Massnahmen auch bei Yoiutube wieder. Hin und wieder muss ich ein Video ein zweites Mal laden, weil es vor Start im Wieder- und-Wiederladen der Ads zu Beginn hängt.

At Ghostery, we did a joint study with Verified Data: Do websites stop tracking if you reject consent?
We chose pharma websites as an example. All US sites and almost all European sites still sent tracking requests to third parties.
We assume it is often unintentional (e.g. misconfigurations). But when we disclosed our findings, none of the websites reacted.

Ghostery is now available on Edge for Mobile (Android & iOS).
To the best of my knowledge that makes it the only Chrome based Mobile browser with extension support. (There was the Kiwi browser, but it has been discontinued in 2025.)

Update #1: A user tracked this to having #PrivacyBadger or #uBlockOrigin or #Ghostery extensions installed.
Testing with disabled #uBO made Fennec load pages instantly, but let's be honest, we can't use the Internet without uBlock... 🙄

We don't track you. Don't care where you come from or where you go (or if you would have been married a long time ago).
You don't need blockers on our website. Always good to have them enabled but you should always see a "0" on any extensions like #Ghostery.
This is how the web should be. It was how it was. You see that "0" on #mastodon too which is why it's the best social media.

CW: Tale of the red giant and the little dwarves
Once upon a time, there was a red giant. It had a big white triangle nose, and really annoying behavior. It lived near a dwarf village and its hobby was to spy on the little dwarf villagers, and bully them by saying things like "Your suit is so ugly, you little astronaut guy!" and breaking the little red shields of the little dwarf soldiers. The little dwarf villagers often asked the annoying giant why it does this, but they didn't get any answer.
One day, the dwarf villagers had enough of this, they decided to fight the annoying red giant back. They picked up all knifes they found at home, then joined forces on the field next to the village. There were invidious dwarves with a knife juggler holding 4 knifes as their leader, Anime fan poking dwarves, piping dwarves who like to pipe commands in their tiny little penguin terminal, industrial worker dwarves who produce new pipes, cloud dwarves who like watching clouds on the sky when they're bored, blocker dwarves with red and green shields, some of them with white hand, others with U and B letters, white triangle, A and B and P letters or white checkmark painted on their shields. The astronaut dwarf also came to join the fight with its brave lion pet. Other pets also came to help their little owners, a whole army of octopuses came, holding knifes in their tentacles, riding elephants. Seeing the big crowd, the old dwarf whose snore is heard in the entire village as a loud rumble at nights, and the pilot dwarf who likes to chute from its plane a bit every day, also joined the crowd.
The army was ready to take the fight!

Goodbye Chrome, Hello Ghostery Browser! A New Dawn In The Browser Wars!This dream involved me testing the Mozilla Firefox web browser with the Ghostery Tracker & Ad Blocker web browser extension.
I also tested the Ghostery Privacy Browser web browser, which has built-in ad blocking.

I tested them online against many advertisement (ad) filled websites, especially bootleg websites.
This was all done from my desktop computer using the Linux distribution (distro) Ubuntu LTS.
My goal was to compare the ad blocking abilities between both of them.
I wanted to see if there was a difference.
Was there a difference between using the Ghostery web browser extension and it being built into the web browser?
I also wanted to see if it was worth using instead of Brave Browser or Mozilla Firefox with Ghostery installed.
At some point, my computer crashed / froze.
I started to worry as I feared that a malicious ad or something had done this.
Then I wondered why I did this from my computer.
I questioned why I did not use a virtual machine or a live USB with Ubuntu instead.
I probably was not even using private mode.
Then I hoped that I was not a victim of a session hijacking attack.
I did not want all of my passwords, browser cookies, et cetera stolen / copied.
I woke up as I restarted my computer, hoping for the best.
The hope was that Linux, Ubuntu, would be more resistant if my fears were correct.
I also prepared for the worst while wondering why I did something so stupid.

One thing to mention is that Safari supports extensions; it is more limited than on Firefox, but it works. Ghostery also has a Safari extension for iOS:

If you wonder why the app has little history (and only three reviews): two weeks ago, we moved the remaining Ghostery Inc parts to Ghostery GmbH. In the Apple store, it was surprising not possible to update the company. Thus, we had to create a new developer account and start from scratch. All Ghostery users that installed the app are now stuck on the old version and need to manually install the new one.
