In 2020 I paddleboarded solo along the length of the Caledonian Canal, the Great Glen Canoe Trail. Later this month, I planned to walk it - the Great Glen Way.
My plan was to walk it all and wild camp with the dog, but when I got down to planning it properly, I realised she’s still a little young to take on the whole lot in the time I have available, so I’m probably just going to do Fort William to Fort Augustus, depending on how she goes. Or maybe only as far as Laggan, if I do a there and back.
My difficulty is getting back to Fort William from Fort Augustus if we go that far. No dogs on buses, and there’s no train.
Really just thinking out loud now. Short days are going to be the way, I think, which obviously reduces the distance we can cover.
Whatever I ultimately decide, I’m looking forward to being there and not here.
