This 2012 Herrenweg Gewürz from Zind-Humbrecht is in a perfect place, even as it is nearing age 15. It still seems very youthful, with plenty of time left. (I'm guessing many drank it younger!) Fresh, ripe and friendly, it's not a heavily aromatic Gewürz, but it touches all the bases and goes down easy.
Tasty with that lychee hint, dry (not stern) and balanced, it's not quite as glorious as the winery's single-vineyards, but it's very nice this year.

You won't find this now, and it would surely come with a premium. It was under $50 then. Newer years are likely to be around $100, but I'm seeing widely varying prices.

#Wine is California #Gewürztraminer from Mendocino County’s coastal region by Fetzer winery. Fragrant grapes from cooler regions, including Monterey County, were pressed as whole berries, and blended with those from Mendocino. Flavors of honeyed apricot & peach. Aroma of rose petals & honeysuckle. Crisp palate, with medium sweetness.

Typically, any wine I enjoy is one that people who see themselves as liking wine would either not like, or not consider wine (and not just in a snobby way).

My wine-dumb description — Its a white wine(?). It’s actually sweet, but neither sugary nor syrupy. It’s complex, but not funky or sour. It’s not the least bit harsh (i.e., you could chug it, though please don’t).
