During a short ride with my bike last Sunday I stumbled on this beautiful plant growing along a rural track here in the coastal Amazon region. I'm not very experienced in identifying Gesneriaceae, but I think this is Seemannia purpurascens Rusby, which is near its northern distributional limit in our region and had been last collected here (according to herbarium records I found on-line) about hundred years ago.
