Now hear me out please and let me know if this is wildly out. Lots of talk about taxing billionaires. But I *think* you might find it wouldn't even cover one week's worth of change recently in the budget black hole let alone give loads of dosh to spend on pet projects. UK's 55 billionaires if similar to those across the world, would be "worth" about $296bn in total. Not even 3/4 of a Musk. If you were to tax that capital value at 5% (a simple proxy for the entire income flow fro $296bn invested) you'd get just $14bn a year in extra tax.

If you want to tax better, stop looking at merely how much people have. And as Churchill said in his enlightened days as a #Georgist Liberal ask instead "how did you get it" and reward those who produce the wealth and tax those who take the surplus generated by the whole of society. #abolishtaxes #sharetherents #makepovertyhistory

I’d also collectivize land across the federation in a #Georgist style. Leases and land fees would be paid in the federation’s currency, which would have exit and transfer taxes. It is another tragedy of #blockchain fever that an overcomplicated distributed database hype train should at least have yielded an interesting exploration of weird problems that it's not quite a solution for. I don't even want to try to Google for a #georgist #crypto #webring #coop but I feel like it should exist as an example to others. Instead I fear I'll just get a bunch of diluted buzzword hits that's a waste of time.
