Absolut erstaunlich, dass eine der simpelsten Arten, mit Fake News umzugehen so gut wie keine Anwendung findet.

1. Always present the truth first, in context. No justifications, no defense, no questioning: Don't let step 2. spill over into this.

2. Only then, briefly mention the piece of misinformation (bullshit), disinformation (lies), or malinformation (mangled context) that is making headlines. Use reported speech, and label the piece as incorrect, made up, or taken out of context.

3. Close with another spoonful of truth.

When you repeat a lie, even to debunk it, you help to strengthen and spread the lie. When you negate a frame, you evoke the frame.

Remember this when someone provokes you with an absurd lie. Are you falling into a trap?

@tom4okstate @jimcarroll Yes, the degree of ignorant cruelty the current instantiation of the #GOP exhibits is staggering. How come an entire party so completely loses track of its basic humanity? Sure Trump did that. But he's a sociopath with serious mental problems of his own. Yet, Republicans fell under his spell, and can't get out of it. Some deep #GeorgeLakoff stuff going on here
