Did you see @heigit released ohsome-planet 1.3.1 ("Baarle-Hertog")? The tool turns OSM history PBF files into GeoParquet for analysis in DuckDB, GeoPandas or QGIS. This release fully reworks the geometry assembler for complex multipolygon relations, removing the old ~600-member cap and improving performance.

I would add WebGL-based visualization libraries (e.g. #deckgl and #mapgl). They are not exactly super new but they're really centraly in how spatial data science has changed over the past 10-ish years.
ps. #GeoParquet, and #DuckDB + spatial ! would also be at the top of my list!

One question for the #gis community on #ubuntu derivatives. I wanted to load #geoparquet into a #qgis project. Didn't work with any ppa version or #flatpak so far. Seams like being due to #gdal not being compiled with this option. Got used to it when still had a single Win10 machine left, as it fast and tiny data footprint. How do you get geoparquet running? Compile gdal yourself or is there a package already including geoparquet?

In a new blog post, structured as an FAQ, I detail the differences between GeoParquet and the latest version of Parquet, which supports geospatial data via the GEOMETRY logical type.
TL;DR: the two standards are orthogonal, compatible, and can be combined, with the only caveat that the columns must be encoded as WKB.
