New tree shade indicator on our Climate Action Navigator maps tree shade street by street.

Local governments and civil society organizations get a free, detailed view of where shade helps and where it is missing, so they can decide where new trees would make the biggest difference.
Citywide averages hide these local differences, and that is the problem this tool solves.

GIScience researcher Steffen Knoblauch has just returned from a research visit at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) in Cape Town 🇿🇦, where he built upon his PhD research at the intersection of geoinformatics and public health.
