  1. #genuary27 - Lifeform. This is another fractal with an organic look. It makes me think of some sort of plant encountered by the crew of the Enterprise in Star Trek.

  2. Two Byl's loops replicate to form growing colonies that compete for the same space.

The cellular automata rules might be considered "crazy" when contrasted against the more well known Conway's Game of Life

    #genuary27: A lifeform.

The worms eating through the pictures have a strong preference for contrasts.

  4. Genuary 2026 Day 27: "Lifeform. A shape or structure that behaves as if it’s alive or growing."

For this one, I'm playing with fractal trees again. I love these things.

  5. Prompt: "Lifeform. A shape or structure that behaves as if it’s alive or growing."

I skipped a lot of prompts, but this one I had to do.

  6. To live is to swim.

The prompt was "Lifeform. A shape or structure that behaves as if it’s alive or growing." by

  7. Genuary Day 27: Lifeform

Well, actually not the lifeform itself but you can watch some space coocoons growing, if you visit Openprocessing:

(My piece is more than just a little bit inspired by a sketch by Project Somedays, tbh.)

  8. #Genuary Day 27: "Lifeform"

Wrote a little swarm algorithm! It works like this:

    1. Walk in a random direction.

    2. Follow another bug if it's:

    - in front of you
    - not too far away
    - moving away from you

    3. Avoid the walls.

  9. #genuary27 Prompt: Life Form

Two Species of Flocking Creatures: Predator and Prey

The World is Toroidal, however the creatures cannot see through the edges. This makes for some weird boundary behavior.

  10. I combined the #genuary26 und #genuary27 prompts: "Symmetry" and "Make something interesting with no randomness or noise or trig".

The basis is a simplified part of a historic floor mosaic from cyprus and I tried out the p5js blendModes a bit and messed the mosaic up on purpose for the last screenshot. #genuary

  11. Quiet around here. Feels like everybody is recuperating after a busy month for some reason...

Here are the first ~20,000 digits of e, sorted from low to high within each row. 0 = dark blue and 9 = yellow. This could have worked for #genuary27 "no randomness or noise or trig." In my defense, I am very slow.

Visualizing my local sunrise/sunset times and sun angles for the whole month of January. I did use trig.

  15. #genuary26 prompt: symmetry.
#genuary27 prompt: something interesting with no randomness or noise.

If there's gotta be no randomness, you need to introduce control. I made this cute discontinued device called the #Monome Arc work with #PyScript. This is usually driven by a UDP server, but turns out browsers can't use UDP, so I wrote a WebSocket bridge. Looks like it works 😎

  16. #genuary27 - Something interesting with no randomness. Fractal images don't (usually) involve any randomness, yet result in chaotic interesting images. #genuary #genuary2025
