  1. #genuary2026, day 26:
Recursive Grids. Split the canvas into a grid of some kind and recurse on each cell again and again.

  2. recursive grids

h9 is built on the concept of nested layouts, so this one was short & quick:

  3. For #genuary26, Recursive Grid, I went with a pretty minimalist pattern where each square is subdivided into 4 smaller squares.

  4. I've had some challenges this month, so I haven't posted my genuary as much.

here is day 22,24, and 26 together:

  5. #Genuary Day 26: "Recursive Grids. Split the canvas into a grid of some kind and recurse on each cell again and again."

Learned about rep-tiles today – shapes that can be tiled with smaller versions of themselves!

So here's a recursive L-shape. Depending on how you shade them, you get some nice fractals!

  6. Genuary Day 26: Recursive Grids. Split the canvas into a grid of some kind and recurse on each cell again and again.

Unlike with the Fibonacci thing, my wife does not find any Bond vibes in this one.

  8. This is a (very slight) extension of last year's Genuary20 (Architecture) prompt, which I based on the skyline in the old QBasic Gorillas game. This year, it gets extended to "3D" with layers of buildings, scaled and "misted" toward the back. And stars in the sky. Give me enough genuaries, and maybe I'll eventually call this one finished...

  9. I combined the #genuary26 und #genuary27 prompts: "Symmetry" and "Make something interesting with no randomness or noise or trig".

The basis is a simplified part of a historic floor mosaic from cyprus and I tried out the p5js blendModes a bit and messed the mosaic up on purpose for the last screenshot. #genuary

  10. #Genuary26 Symmetry - Of course I used some random numbers to try to make it interesting. Code here: davebauer.art/web-and-python-p

  11. Genuary 26 : Symmetry

As the month comes to an end, I'm struggling more and more to keep writing at the same time as carrying all my daily life chores, so this is going to be the last installment of this series. If anything, this challenge has helped me get back on track with writing code in processing and I've explored some other languages in the process. 1/2

  12. #genuary26 prompt: symmetry.
#genuary27 prompt: something interesting with no randomness or noise.

If there's gotta be no randomness, you need to introduce control. I made this cute discontinued device called the #Monome Arc work with #PyScript. This is usually driven by a UDP server, but turns out browsers can't use UDP, so I wrote a WebSocket bridge. Looks like it works 😎

  13. #Genuary26: Symmetry

I think the outputs from this algorithm would make cool/interesting stained glass.

  14. "Symmetry."

Let's go for some six-fold radial symmetry with hexagons. Honestly most of the outputs from this thing are not much to look at, but I'm unreasonably fond of this one for some reason.
