  1. GENUARY DAY 11 QUINE

I did the thing where it saves the thing and then the thing is actually inside the thing and it's the same thing, so it's kind of a QUINE (kind of)

Video demo is slightly too long for uploading here so I put on youtube:

  2. #genuary2026, day 11:
Quine. A Quine is a form of code poetry, it’s a computer program that outputs exactly its own source code.

A quine in vanilla js, with modulated font (size and weight)

  3. #GenerativeArt interlude

    #genuary11 quine

Not a quine; I don't have a lot of patience for code golf. But I played with the text of the program that made this.

And I used weirdo fonts just to make everyone cringe. I really do need to work out better text sizing, though.

  4. Genuary 2026 Day 11: "Quine. A Quine is a form of code poetry, it’s a computer program that outputs exactly its own source code."

For this one, I'm going to cheat a bit, and share an old piece. It's a python script titled "Self-Drawing Code", and it generates an image from the character string of it's own code. kristinhenry.github.io/selfDra

  5. Very similar to my interpretation of last year's Genuary 3 "42 Lines of Code" (link below), this code is a "Quine" that outputs itself into a stylized image using SVG curves and gradients.

A quine is a computer program that takes no input and produces a copy of its own source code as its only output

  8. #genuary11 Prompt: Quine

My multineighbourhood ca code sets its parameters depending on the final state of the last run, then resets the initial state and does 24iterations. When the process loops I get a CA who's final state describes its own parameters.

  9. Genuary 2026 - 11: "A Quine"

A quine is a program that outputs its own source code. Below is an attempt to write a quine as an R plot. Here is how it works: Write whatever it says in the image into a single-quoted string variable x (that is, x <- 'y=1:nchar.....]])' and then execute that string as R source code with `eval(parse(text=x))` and you get the image back. This was harder than I thought it would be! R code in alt text.

  10. I've felt overwhelmed by what's happened this week, and unable to create anything worthwhile for Genuary, so here is a #ProceduralArtwork from last fall. I created this system based on #Genuary2024 #Genuary11, "In the style of Anni Albers". I had collected some of her works in advance of it, and then got Covid. I finally made something based on my favorite piece of hers, shown below. I titled this system "Pea Field Quilt" as it is inspired by farming and farm traditions of my home of Minnesota.

  11. I made something for genuary for the first time. I'm *extremely* rusty, but hey it's at least something!

  12. Genuary 11: do something that seems impossible to you (belated)

    arielmartinperez.com/pages/202

Most things seem impossible to me as a newbie in creative coding, so I had to find a quirky take to make it mine. Hover your mouse over the grey div to find out! This week some posts are late because I was learning how to make miso :3

  13. #genuary11: Impossible day
    openprocessing.org/sketch/2506

Last month I started contributing code to the open source Deluge firmware project. synthstromaudible.github.io/De

It seemed incredibly daunting, but by prototyping the UI design in #p5js, I was confident I could get it working in C++ eventually. Thanks to the very supportive community, I was able to get set up and complete a PR that was then merged. This weekend I updated the sketch and tested more improvements.

  14. Prompts: Draw one million of something (#Genuary8 --notched squares); Impossible day (#Genuary11 --algorithmic composition feels impossible to me!); Subdivision (#Genuary12); Generative palette (#Genuary16). #Genuary #Genuary2025 Demo with variants here: openprocessing.org/sketch/2505

  15. #genuary11 prompt: Impossible day.
    #genuary12 prompt: Subdivision.

I combined the prompts since what I wanted to do for ages now is frequency-aware realtime audio visualization. This is the result. Makes most sense with the volume up.

As you can confirm in the source code, the lighting action is all driven by the music.

  16. Since I don't seem to do anything if it doesn't seem impossible, for #genuary11, Impossible Day, I have a second overly ambitious project. Over the holidays I converted one of my fractal images into a 3D layered wooden wall art. Cut entirely by hand on a scroll saw, it combines my hobbies of generative art and woodworking. Patterns available in my web store for anyone crazy enough to want to construct your own. #fractal #fractalart #wallart #scrollsaw #woodworking #genuary2025 #genuary

  17. Day 11 Prompt: "Impossible day - Try to do something that feels impossible for you to do. Maybe it is impossible. Maybe it’s too ambitious. Maybe it’s something you know nothing about how to accomplish."

I'm going back to a past prompt and challenge. Something impossible. It has been impossible for me to earn the pay a man would receive for my work, if he had done it.

I went for "less than one hour, less than 1000 chars". That's what I could afford today 🙂
