  5. Super cool paper (part of PhD thesis): I thought assembling the genome from raw signal isn't practical, but it seems not possible, but yielding results comparable/better to usual approaches: basecalling followed by de novo genome assembly!

  11. New paper from my old group:

    Long-read genome assemblies of 33 species of eucalypt (gum tree) from across Australia, encompassing ~70My of evolution. Key finding: macrosynteny is preserved, but microsynteny rampantly disrupted. Cool result given the propensity for inter-specific hybridization and gene flow.

  22. Hello everyone! Here is my #introduction.

    I'm a #bioinformatics manager at the Canadian Centre for Computational Genomics (C3G), based in #McGill University.

    Most recently, I helped coordinate the bioinformatics analysis for the #COVID19 sequencing effort in the province of Quebec. Additionally, I have experience in #transcriptomics, #GenomeAssembly and #OxfordNanopore, among other things.

    Excited to give this new platform a try, so far, so good!
