"The 1995 Israeli-Palestinian Interim Agreement on the #WestBank and #GazaStrip, known as the #OsloII Accord, gave the #PalestinianAuthority (PA) maritime jurisdiction over its waters up to 20 nautical miles from the coast. The PA signed a 25-year contract for gas exploration with the#BritishGas Group in 1999, and a large gas field, #GazaMarine, was discovered at 17 to 21 nautical miles off the coast of Gaza the same year. However, despite initial discussions between the Israeli government, the PA and British Gas on the sale of gas from this field and the provision of much-needed revenue to the occupied Palestinian territories, the Palestinians have not realised any benefits.

While diving into the latest #Killnet news, I stumbled upon something I wasn't aware yet -- the colloquially named Geneva Code of cyber-war. It defines the rules of engagement for civilian hackers involved in international conflicts. The rules were defined through the International Committee of the Red Cross.
I am unsure, if hacktivists are very keen in following it, but having such a convention appears to be pretty useful to minimize civilian harm.

András Lederer from #Hungary's oldest & largest #HumanRights group, the Hungarian Helsinki Cmte, told NPR that the #State Dept's new policy weakens the position of human rights defenders in countries that have a problematic track record on these issues.

In a draft of the forthcoming report on that country reviewed by NPR, the #ElSalvador section on #prison conditions is ERASED. The only remnants of those violations are reports on prison deaths that fall into the category of "extrajudicial killings" & a mention of #abuse by prison guards in a legislatively mandated section on "#Torture & #Cruel, #Inhuman, or #Degrading Treatment or Punishment."

By #law, the #State Dept releases annual reports for every country, & they traditionally follow one basic outline. The cuts ordered in the #Trump admin memo are not targeted at specific countries. Rather, they eliminate entire categories of #abuses from all the reports.
But some deletions are more noteworthy than others. The Trump admin recently negotiated the transfer of #immigrants from the #US into #ElSalvador's notorious #prison system.
