My lovely PC is finally back after more than a month. Time to upgrade Ryzen 7 5700G to Ryzen 9 3900X plus an Intel Arc A380!

Some people might think it's an overkill for someone with my salary. But I need a powerful CPU with good multi threading support to train #GeneticProgramming stuff and a good GPU to train other #ML models. Actually it was real painful to do my GP experiments on the other PC I have.

One idea I'm thinking about for #GeneticProgramming

In GP, we usually need to evolve multiple subpopulations named "demes" rather than one big population as the converge on smaller population happens faster. Then we have small, infrequent migrations between subpopulations, like 5% of population of each subpopulation/deme.

Also #GECCO 2024 is close. Not sure if it's better to present there or publish it a journal like #MIT #ECJ or #IEEE #EC

#ChatGPT, #Codex, and similar models can do program synthesis. I think we in the #GeneticProgramming community aren't quite admitting this to ourselves! If a GP system could do one-tenth of the #ProgramSynthesis ChatGPT can do, it would win a best paper award at #GECCO, #EuroGP, or #GPTP. Should we just give up?

I'm a researcher in #AI #ArtificialIntelligence. I'm interested in everything but my own research is often about #programsynthesis and #GeneticProgramming. I do some work with #neuralnetworks too.

I'm also into #music. On a good day I combine this with AI.

I'm based in #UniversityOfGalway, in #Ireland.
