Interesting conundrum that I have come across and solved, I think, sensibly.
I am on holiday with my kid in a bush cabin. I do it every year and it is usually my friends that come and a single friend of my kid. This year I decided that it would be mostly my kids friends.
They are all 18ish. So we have rooms with multiple beds in and I naively thought I should separate them by gender like we ‘used to do’ to stop hanky panky.
But we have a trans person and a same sex couple and it occurred to me that the separation shouldn’t be to stop hanky panky but just for privacy and comfort.
So I asked them who they wanted to be with and left it at that. It is going very well. If there is anything sexual going on, I am not aware of it, and frankly they are adults and can do whatever in the privacy of their room. They know the walls are paper thin and they respect that some people don’t have partners or their partners here so there is very little overt sexual overtones.
The kids are alright.
