Dyski SSD M.2 PCIe stały się powszechnym rozwiązaniem w komputerach osobistych, laptopach, a także konsolach PlayStation, oferując wysoką wydajność i łatwość instalacji.

Na rynku dostępne są równolegle trzy generacje dysków SSD PCIe NVMe, co może utrudniać wybór odpowiedniego rozwiązania. Kluczowe różnice między nimi leżą w przepustowości, gdzie każda kolejna generacja oferuje znaczące usprawnienia.

PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) to interfejs łączący dysk SSD z płytą główną, natomiast NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) to protokół komunikacyjny zoptymalizowany do szybkiej wymiany danych między dyskiem a procesorem, wykorzystujący magistralę PCIe. Kolejną kwestią jest generowanie ciepła – dyski PCIe Gen 5 wymagają solidnych systemów chłodzenia, choć nowsze rozwiązania są w tym aspekcie bardziej zoptymalizowane.

W przypadku konsoli PlayStation 5 (Pro), która jest przystosowana do współpracy z dyskami SSD Gen 4 z pamięcią cache DRAM, instalacja dysku Gen 5, mimo wstecznej kompatybilności, nie przyniesie żadnych dodatkowych korzyści w wydajności. Dyski pozbawione pamięci cache, korzystające z bufora HMB, mogą działać poprawnie w komputerach, ale nie są zalecane do PlayStation, gdyż ich wydajność będzie obniżona. Żaden dysk PCIe Gen 3 nie spełnia zaleceń Sony dotyczących wydajności nośnika dla konsoli. Podsumowując, optymalnym wyborem do PS5 lub PS5 Pro jest wydajny dysk SSD NVMe Gen 4 z cache DRAM i radiatorem.

What a strange night. Shared about how God promised #Jesus would come and defeat death from the moment Adam and Eve sinned in #Gen3:15. Supercars have invested a great deal in #Gen3 & are eager to see the new formula succeed - perhaps too eager. It seems then that the rosy picture (pun intended) the series is trying to push & maintain has yet to match up with reality.
