- had a sudden pain attack in my black this morning, but was still able to work
- food leftovers= no cooking effort

Wow! Premiere! I managed to get #Gelbi in a grip in which he couldn't move and "let" my wife cut his claws. And even afterwards he didn't take off, but stood with me! 😯😎

#Gelbi ended up crashing and clinging at the 3D-tiled wall, directly after bathing, instead of flying back to the cage downstairs like usual. Normally, he only ends up there, when going upwards without too much light. The first time he did it today, I didn't see him there for a few minutes. I hope he's fine. Munching 🫑 and wet seeds still seems to work, though.

- really annoying "let's check your work" meeting this week resulted in the checking department wanting to use our workflow as blueprint for others and our boss praising our work
- friend kept talking with me, although they didn't like what I did (I still consider it right)
- cuddling with #Gelbi on my knee, while he preened himself -

- managed to combine a meeting recording, I still had to listen to, the need for buying bird food (for outside) and a pizza shop on the road into a nice longer lunch break (that wasn't that long in the papers)
- brushed teeth with #Gelbi, who made the cute sound when putting the lid on my mouth wash and who also bathed afterwards on my hand in the sink
- called my aunt for #genealogy facts from the village - she didn't know, but invited me to visit her

- received the marriage record of Wilhelm #Hercher https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Hercher-27, which I had ordered three weeks ago. The right margin is full of side notes 😍
- managed to stop working after 6.25 hours, which was a good compensation for the overtime of the last days and gave me some space
- bathed #Gelbi and cuddled with him

Level of being lost and confused: I snoozed the alarm for "changing water at #Gelbi and #Graui" several times and was annoyed, that I only could snooze for one minute at a time. Suddenly a second alarm for the birds shows up. Oh right, the first one actually was the tea timer and not the one for the birds.🤦♂️

Belated #3GoodThings, after skipping some days due to workload, exhaustion and #April2025ConnectAThon:
- beak cutting at the vet for #Gelbi went well, except being told that he's on the border of being too fat
- managed to create #WikiTree profiles for at least 2 direct ancestors during #ConnectAThon https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Pfefferle-54
- 30 min after Thon, in which I showered, we approved the release at work, so it might get a little less hectic for the next few months until the next one

- Our county replied, that they will consider including #Mastodon, after I wrote them in the weekend (town hall said, they forwarded the email internally). Meanwhile I have a bot almost ready to post the county news automatically until they make up their minds.

@CazimodoCreative Poor Ziggy. #Gelbi is the same with anything snake-like: the vacuum cleaner, the shower hose and unfortunately also the solid braided toy with the bells on it. Balloons and A4 magazines provoke a similar reaction. #birb

@CazimodoCreative Right after moving in during renovation, our bed was in the living room, where the birds also were. I loved laying down and hearing #Gelbi shake his feathers, like wanting to say goodnight.

Greetings, Upstairs Ninja @CazimodoCreative! I remember #Gelbi and #Blaui (RIP) had a phase in our old apartment, where they used to chew on the cables of our lamp. In the end, we wrapped them with towels and cable binders (the cables, not the birds!). Looked ugly, but that's what you do to protect your flock!

@SeaFury Thanks. He was a bit in shock (just like me!), but still reactive, as opposed to other birds I saw after hitting something, so I guess we're good.
Back then, when we traveled home with #Gelbi and his brother, we let them out in the bathroom of the hotel, where they immediately hit the huge mirror and landed in the sink, so we decided that flying in the room might be the better solution ...

#Gelbi just flew in my office, apparently missed my head and hit the glass door next to it. Then he fell some 40-60 cm (luckily with spread wings), only to land in the corner, where the cleaning robot was headed to. I don't know if I managed to stop the robot, or if it had already reacted to Gelbi, but it didn't squeeze him. He took off and flew to the cage, where he remained in shock a few mins. #MayhemInFeathers (inspired by https://genealysis.social/@CazimodoCre[email protected]/113411845840276934 )

Question to all those parents of #BirdsOfMastodon, especiall to those of #Parrots: Does your 🦜 sometimes act like he's chewing without taking in any food, like they would have some kind of chewing gum? Sometimes #Gelbi sits on my shoulders and chews for half an hour or something ...

@CazimodoCreative Do yours also interact with other birds at the vet? Last time there was some Amazon parrot (I believe) in another corner of the waiting room (not visible from our position) and they started playing ping pong with noises at one point. When I first went to the vet with #Gelbi, there was one waiting room section full of cats. Their owners had a good laugh, when I said to Gelbi, that we rather do want to sit here.

Yesterday, we discovered a bit of blood underneath the feathers of #Gelbi. It looked nothing like the wound from earlier this year, in fact one doesn't even see it, without looking under the feathers. He also didn't pick on it. Then he jumped into the #Graui bathtub after drinking from it, so fast that we couldn't prevent it. But it looked a lot better and smaller afterwards. Our travelling vet would have been 65 km away. With both of us still half sick and him looking ok, we decided to skip it.

@CazimodoCreative Best wishes for your *** visit. I thought #Gelbi and me would also need to go soon, to have his beak trimmed for the second time this year, but we just saw that Gelbi fixed it by himself this time.

Yesterday I had a vet appointment scheduled for #Gelbi. What was intended only for cutting his beak, got a bit more dramatic, when we figured out a few hours before that he had dried blood on his collar. We first assumed it was from a broken feather, but the vet found a wound and had to staple it. It was all very consuming for bird and owners, but back home he acted pretty normal, apart from being visibly exhausted from the stress. We will go to the vet again on Monday for bracket removal.

@Fury @CazimodoCreative #Gelbi says "ja" (yes in German), which can be pretty funny, when having discussions with him. He also knows "haida" (let's go in Romanian), when being asked if he wants to bathe.
