• #PayMaya seems to require an verified account an involves a few extra steps. I only have their e-wallet, which I almost never use. I opted to send my trove to a #Gcash account, and the machine simply needs a #Globe number.

I bought a new phone, the LCD on my old is not responsive anymore. Tried to login on gcash. But the app prompts me to logout on my old phone. How can I do that if the phone is already dead?

Well, my usual* wallet does have enough cash, fortunately. 😁

It's just weird because I normally use my #creditcard for any place that will take card payments, and I don't carry much #cash. I don't feel safe making trips to the #ATM. The less I use those machines, the better and safer, me thinks. So I like to save my cash for places where they don't have other payment options.

#Google / #Apple Pay is not a thing here. We have #GrabPay #Maya #Gcash #ShopeePay.

So, I was verified on Gcash for a long time using my tourist immigration card.

Now I’m married and have a probationary resident immigration card, but for some reason, gcash listed me as unverified and will not take my new immigration card.

It’s actually rejected by the app, it doesn’t even get submitted. I have some friends with diplomatic immigration cards and they can’t get verified either.

So, is there a good alternative to gcash that I can try to use?

It's surprising that the #Philippines, with a digital payment headstart like #GCash, is taking so long to approve #AppleWallet and #GoogleWallet. What's with the delay, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas?

Gcash keeps sending me a notification to verify my account before April, but I’m already verified. I opened a ticket and they tell me to reverify, but the app keeps saying my ID is not valid even though it is.

Their support team keeps closing my tickets after telling me how to verify. Are they even reading my ticket that says, it’s not letting me upload my ID?

Or, the conglomerate is starting to feel an impact because GCash decided to block phones with enabled:
1. Sideloading (which many brands and models have enabled by default, and no way to turn-off (like the Oppo model I have).
2. Dev options

They actually added another st*pidity, citing “security” again:

* You can only use GCash on the device where the correct SIM card is loaded. /facepalm

Solution: Charge transfers from BPI to GCash so their first quarterly report will look pretty in the eyes of their non-techie board members and investors. To cover the decline in usage; and their silly “blame the users for security issues, not our system”.

Context:
* The number 1 worst FinTech app in the Philippines, for 2023.
* They are on a campaign blaming “developer mode” for GCash account related issues.
* They also stupidly blocked “install from other sources” when many China-brand phones (like what I'm using, Oppo) have it enabled by default and can NOT be disabled.

In other words, GCash alienated more than half of their users in their bid to blame their users for compromised GCash accounts.

So, the trend now is to create scenarios (like the above) why one cannot send money, because GCash.

Yeah. I tried it one time at a small coffee shop. The #QR sign at the cashier had the #QRph logo in the center of the #QRcode, but the sign was branded #Gcash.

I tried and it was indeed treated as a transfer, with a 15-peso fee. I cancelled the transaction.

And that is why it's still good to keep some cash handy. ☝️😄

But they only take card, cash or #Gcash.

Well, I left my wallet at home and I hate Globe.

Opened a ticket 2 weeks ago on #GCash's app, unable to transfer #PayPal funds. GCash reps say I should convert funds to PHP, but they've always been in PHP. Support incompetence is alarming & should make us all wary of keeping money in GCash. #CustomerServiceFail

Between #GCash and #GrabPay, I like using the latter now for cashless payments whenever available.

1. You earn Grab Rewards points every time you use it, and you can then use those points for food, car and express deliveries.

2. If you cash in via credit card, you also earn points on your card, which can also be used to redeem rewards. Like air miles.

Hitting 2 birds with 1 stone. 😉

PS. Just make sure to cash in only what you need.

Cashed in about 60% of my balance from Unionbank of the Philippines (my bank) to my Gcash (an e-wallet) to pay a loan. The cash in failed. My bank account now has less money that does not reflect in my gcash. Now have to go chasing after that lost cash with their CSRs. FML 🤦‍♂️
