UK budget day tomorrow. Important decisions will be taken by the government, mostly the wrong ones.
My own budget action? Stocking up on pipe tobacco, as budgets invariably raise tobacco duty. One pound of Brown Flake, one pound of Black Irish Twist, both by Gawith & Hoggarth in the Lake District. Both are the finest leaf, processed in England by hand by ancient methods.
I'll mix the Brown Flake with the Black Irish 2:1, the rest of the Black Irish I smoke straight.

Solstice. Dusk has turned to night. It's pleasantly cool outside, while the house is still quite hot.
I will smoke my pipe in the garden, reflecting on the day. A bowl of coarsely cut Gawith & Hoggarth Black Twist, dark and rich, as befits the shortest night.
