The Gävle Goat made it through most of the yuletide, but fell down in the storm.

The crane and flatbed have arrived. The wreckage of the collapsed Gävle goat is being dismantled and removed. So GoatWatch is definitely fully over. Can't even watch the heap o' goat.

So I guess GoatWatch2025 is over. It's too late in the season for them to rebuild and the wooden frame probably needs repairs. Nothing's been confirmed yet, so I'll post any news about when the wreckage of the goat will be taken away, or any other developments. What's left could still burn after all! Meanwhile, thanks for following the morning updates! See you in December 2026.

As a #Swede, this is serious stuff. Who else would be obsessed by #goats as part of #Christmas traditions, so much so we build a 13m tall one every year, hoping it lasts till Christmas without being destroyed?

Having made a #Krampus quilt and a #Gävlebocken quilt, I started mulling #MariLwyd or #Jólakötturinn for possible projects and checked to see what other people had done in this area
I didn't find quilts for either, but this is some really cool #embroidery by kittermeowmix on Reddit
(A Christmas cat quilt might yet be in my future - I have a void kitty who could model 🧐)

The Gavle Goat's officially called as destroyed... as birds have eaten too much of the straw to really call it intact anymore.
And it's being called as a win-win for everybody.

Oh no! The Gävle Goat has been damaged again! 😮 This time by jackdaws after the seeds on the straw.
According to Wikipedia it has 24-hour guards on site, double fence, 24-hour public webcam stream. Which obviously isn't much used against the birds 😆
