Nah, that was sarcasm. I already tried to write a plugin to add some unique features to the markdown converter (info blocks). But that failed because of the clash between module system and common js.
This time I want to create a navigation panel that reads pages from some file (ideally another markdown file with local relative links).
I thought that crumbs were created for the whole project, but it works per page and it uses a hack where I have expected to see a normal hook

Yesterday, I took some time again and went through my server instances. For my own website, I just wanted to migrate to a new instance, and then quickly found myself caught up in an upgrade of the #gatsbyjs site :/

@preya @wiewiordev good to know, thanks, after initial testing, I got the #gatsby site running but ran into plugin errors right away. Figured it’d only get harder to maintain as the site grew in complexity . I need something with same flexibility and dynamic capabilities (and #React based) as #GatsbyJS so I decided to switch over to #NextJS . Btw for anyone else researching, #Eleventy seemed like a VERY easy option for a simple static blog

@preya @wiewiordev Do you have some links or references around this? I haven’t found anything definitive stating #GatsbyJS is “abandoned”? I’m considering using it for a small project and it seems to be well established. Although I did notice “gatsby new (with ts)”loads from repo last updated 2-3 yrs ago. I’ve seen that with other tech as well though, they don’t always go back to update sample repos.

Can I just say that moving from Gatsby Cloud to Netlify has been far from seamless 😅 lots of under the hood optimizations and quiet behaviors on the former simply not there on Netlify. So many strange bugs popping up that weren’t an issue before, no change in code.

Which, understandable but it’s frustrating it was pitched as a 1:1 transition.

@verdaccio I took #GatsbyJS "gatsby-dev-cli" which I loved to use as a base and modernized the code base and improved some DX quirks that we found over time. I made the codebase TypeScript (🌶️ topic I know) and ESM-only. It supports multiple package managers now. It's more generic overall.

Working on something cool for Clerk 👀

I'm missing the "gatsby-dev-cli" we had at #GatsbyJS so I'll soon open-source a modernized, generalized version of that.

Local package testing made easy. Will use the wonderful @verdaccio again ♥️

I am happy opensource programmers can make bank. I am sad the industry standard way to do this is by attracting users until a buyout - like leading cattle to the slaughterhouse. Users are fodder.

I personally start looking for an alternative as soon as venture capital lays its grubby paws on an opensource project.

A question for those familiar with gatsbyjs: has anyone managed to successfully use mathjax with gatsbyjs with proper rendering of the \eqref{} or \ref{} tags ? I've spent too many weekends on this to turn back now...

Tried to use vanilla extract on a
#GatsbyJS and #NextJS app and they're both broken. Even the official examples in the repo.

It took me about 5 days to re-implement my site with @astro . The developer experience is amazing, the team is super helpful, and the build times... wow. I went from 35 minutes with #GatsbyJS down to 20 seconds (both figures are with a primed cache).

For a new webseite I am thinking about using gatsby. Didn't use it for quite some time. I need that mix of built time rendering and runtime rendering. While looking around, I stumbled upon Astro. Does somebody here use that and can tell my if it's a good idea to try that?
And another question: Can 11ty do that mix of built time / run time rendering?
