@preLights Interesting. It'd be worth investigating what level of phenomenology we put under the word "(ir)reversible" in this context.
We'd come with a variant for that together with Matteo Rauzi: erasing #Myosin accumulation cancels the furrowing, and as Myosin reaccumulates it starts over.

Did you know that every animal on this earth starts out as a sheet of cells that then rolls into a gut tube?

The #axolotl is such a classic for #embryologists. I am sure it was an old time lapse film of #cleavage and #gastrulation that excited me to become a #developmental #biologist. So this story of #extinction makes me sad.

Hi #ScienceMastodon, time for an #introduction!
I'm an #EvoDevo biologist interested in how tissue #mechanics influences the #evolution of #morphogenesis. I study a deep and mysterious epithelial invagination that forms at the head-trunk boundary of #flies during #gastrulation, known as the #CephalicFurrow (see video below!). Currently, based in Germany as a postdoc in the Tomancak Lab at MPI-CBG. Looking forward to meeting you!

Hi Fly people, sorry about the flypaper flood, I had realised there were papers missing and did a catch up a little earlier today. Now it should run more smoothly.
While I'm at it, it should be possible to add tags to the toots that define better what the paper is about/make it searchable. For this, I'd need a list of keywords to search for: e.g., #embryo, #gastrulation,... Toot your suggestions to @flypapers
