In Gaspe the other week I stumbled across Sibbaldia.
I was familiar with this mountain specialist from British field guides, but had never actually seen it - and here it is, in Canada.
Its weird, because the flowers are like a rose family (Potentilla comes to mind), but the leaves are very Clover.
Quite a few alpine species are found in both Canada and Europe.

A swarm of little earthquakes on the Gaspe shoreline this morning recorded about 190 km away. Magnitude 3.3, then 3.7, then a 2.4. The long lozenge-shaped signals are trains passing several kilometers away.

(#4 of a series: Working Dogs of Quebec) [Source: private postcard collection]This is a really lightweight looking dog cart. It almost looks like a dog racing cart - especially with the boy's Peaky Blinders hat 😃 I've found no evidence of dog cart racing in early 20thC Gaspe, though there is winter dog racing with sleds.

I really, really loved this beautiful #cliff in #Percé, #Gaspé peninsula, #Quebec. We did this Quebec road trip in a little Honda Fit and boy, did that car struggle a lot. There's a lot of mountain roads with steep incline in Quebec and the poor car just wasn't made for that kind of terrain. At least it was fuel efficient?
