I’ve been thinking. Maybe, we’ve all got it wrong and #AlboPM is not colluding with the #GasIndustry at all and there are good reasons why he is not slapping a substantial #GasExpotTax on those bloddy #Grifters and their #Shareholders. But we just don’t know about it. Sure it would help if #AlboPM manned up and explain himself without using dumb soundbites and quips that, translated, mean we’re all dimwits and wouldn’t understand even if he told us. Hell, it would be good enough if he told his cabinet the ‘good reasons’ not to so that his cabinet could tell us the things #AlboPM can’t … for some reason…

Now for some good news.
Copper smelting is an expensive business due to its energy input requirements (not helped by the #GasIndustry #ExportRort and the inflated price of domestic gas supplies — such as they are. But that’s another story). This story showcases #Australian #Research (grossely underfunded !) and a new #Copper production process.
“A modular approach. In February, Banksia Minerals, which is commercialising the technology, was awarded $5 million in federal government funding through the Australian Renewable Energy Agency to develop the technology into a pilot plant expected in 2028. Banksia Minerals managing director Leigh Staines said, if successful, people could see multiple plants across the region.”

@ApaulD Why do people believe gas is the backbone of WA’s economy when 90% of it is exported by a few mostly foreign-owned corporations? These companies get most of the gas royalty-free, contribute less than 2% to the state’s budget, pay minimal taxes (if any), and still receive huge taxpayer subsidies.

"The DeSmog revelations regarding the #AmericanGasAssociation (AGA) came as the gas industry is pushing back against climate and public health advocates' efforts to ban new gas stoves amid mounting scientific evidence that the appliances threaten the warming planet and people's health.
"Recent studies—which, among other things, showed that #NitrogenDioxide, #CarbonMonoxide, and ultrafine particles produced by gas stoves cause a range of health problems, including 1 in 8 U.S. cases of childhood #asthma—sparked fast and furious backlash from the gas industry and its congressional boosters.
"'It's less widely known that the gas industry has long sponsored its own research into the problem of indoor air pollution from gas stoves,' wrote DeSmog's Rebecca John. "Children who lived closer to #NaturalGas wells in heavily drilled Pennsylvania were more likely to develop a relatively rare form of cancer, and nearby residents of all ages had an increased chance of severe asthma reactions, researchers said in reports released Tuesday evening.
"The taxpayer-funded research by the University of Pittsburgh adds to a body of evidence suggesting links between the #GasIndustry and certain health problems. The researchers found what they called significant associations between gas industry activity and two ailments: asthma and a relatively rare type of cancer in children called lymphoma."
