I personally love this one. Ronnie Van Zant had an amazing voice and of course, all vocalists and instrumentalists are superb. Van Zant died young, at 29 in 1977. He was a primary lyricist. The band originated down here in Florida, in Jacksonville. The band was supposed to play at the Florida Strawberry Festival coming up soon. When I played the acoustic guitar moons ago, I did a little song there.

Neil Young got into it with Lynyrd Skynyrd over the band's diss of "Southern Man" with their song "Sweet Home Alabama." Young wasn't wrong about the South, though perhaps LS was a bit overly defensive? I have always admired Young's cultural, political, and environmental stances.
