Reading The Sinister Booksellers of Bath by Garth Nix. I just came across the line "You won't have to hold a hose or anything".
Nix is Australian and that line will resonate with all Australian readers after PM Morrison's infamous "I don't hold a hose" in response to the disastrous bushfires in 2019.
I love it when you come across little things like that in books which authors have slipped in.

That is until his newest book where *literally* (almost) everybody is black or brown (or "olive-skinned" 🤢). And #lesbian. What the heck happenend?!
(I mean, should not be surprised, I'm a cis white dude who's been drawing white guys in faux-medieval Europe for the longest time but I still did not see that coming.)
