  1. 2026 is the year of the Boycott Garden. Last year I learnt how to jar tomatoes and took advantage of my dad’s garden and the boxes of tomatoes sold at the end of last summer. This year, I’m trying to grow my own tomatoes. I am NOT a very good gardener but I want to try! I live in a house apartment and the previous upstairs tenants gardened a bit, but the new tenants aren’t interested so I’m claiming it. Right now, I’ve planted three Roma tomato plants. I’m planting potatoes in the laundry basket because getting anything bigger is impractical. I’m also planting some herbs in a pot.

Part of me wants to try plant something else too, but I fear over complicating things for myself. Tomatoes are my main vegetable of choice for canning so I should just make sure I am stocked for the winter. lol

  2. This part of the back garden is mostly a new bed extension. I planted the bee balm our first spring here, but everything else here is new this year. Sweet Peas (Cupani), two types of calendula, two types of cosmos. Next year I'm going to add nasturtiums too. #gardening #gardeningCanada

  3. Delphinium and threadleaf coreopsis, both of which started flowering today.#gardening #gardeningCanada

  4. Anybody interested in my overwinter seeding plan? I have a spreadsheet I'm putting together that I can throw up a link #gardeningNZ #gardeningCanada

  5. But I'm looking forward to having lots of roses from the Colour Cocktail for cut flowers next year. You keep cutting it, and it keeps on flowering.

But I really can't wait for the zepherine Drouhin to flower.

Not to mention my Clematis, which I bloody well hope survives the winter, I've tried to protect it. It's an Early One (group II) #Gardening #GardeningCanada

  6. My pohutukawa seedlings seem not worse for wear for all the lack of sun the past few days. Some of them seem twice as tall now. #gardening #gardeningNZ #gardeningCanada
