My boysenberry bush has started to flower for the first time since I planted it over a year ago.
Let's hope the Rainbow Lorikeets don't get to the berries before I do. #gardening #GardeningAustralia

Tiny spring onions from my garden are just the right size for a garnish
Yesterday’s garden tidying on the balconies resulted in the discovery that I had successfully grown a carrot in a pot that I thought I had planted onions in. But no, it was definitely a carrot.
Inspired by that success, I have sown seeds to try growing more over the late spring / summer season. #Canberra #gardening #GardeningAustralia
I have a worm bin and a compost tumbler, but I often end up digging the compost directly into the ground. The result is random trees – here are two avocados and one you can’t see hidden under the nasturtium foliage. I need to take those out and separate them. #GardeningAustralia

What a lovely day to chuck a sickie (or hurtie in my case) and sip tea on my balcony.
Last year's basil self-seeded in the planter and is now sprouting, which is exciting 🌱
(Edit: noteworthy because this has never happened before, feel accomplished as a basil-grower)
How to make a potted #FoodForest for small spaces | DIY Garden Projects | #GardeningAustralia

"Hannah creates potted productive plant combinations, to show how you can have a food forest in a small space.
"A food forest aims to have all plants on a site working together. The classic model has seven layers: #CanopyLayer (large fruit trees), #understorey (smaller nut and fruit trees), #shrubs (berries and large perennials), #herbaceous (herbs and plants), #rhizosphere (root crops), #groundcover (clover and strawberries) and #vines (climbing beans, peas etc.).
If you have a small garden or live in an apartment, this can seem a bit overwhelming! But it is possible to follow the same basic principles using pots."

For Father’s Day I bought some terracotta pots and transplanted some of my herbs for my dad. He’s been talking in the past about wanting herbs / complaining about the price in the supermarket. I had some self sown thyme and rosemary, so they’ve gone into separate pots. My Siberian chives likes to proliferate so a few of those are in a pot, and parsley seed into another. #Australia #GardeningAustralia

Murdered the passionfruit today. It's had three summers, produced masses of flowers, had lots of bees all over it but no fruit. Will use the bed for bok choi this winter and tomatoes next summer. Maybe give another passion fruit a try next year but only so many summers left in me.
Dug over the bed and put in two bags if chook and cow manure topped up with potting mix to get it level with the top of the raised pot. #gardens #australia #gardening #GardeningAustralia
That’s a kaffir lime that I’m watering in. This is the east-facing wall of the house, and it’s going to be the citrus garden. I’ve already added mandarin to the lemon that was here and is full of fruit.
I’m hoping the warmth from the bricks will power these plants through the afternoons. We’ll see. #GardeningAustralia #bluemountains
My jonquils sprouted in April, maybe it's the warm weather but it's weird
Should I plant a couple of citrus trees in Katoomba in May, or wait until spring?
