  1. This is the most exciting PR in .NET 11: CoreCLR's monolithic 57kLOC gc.cpp got split up into several smaller modules for easier maintenance.

  2. 🚮 Oh joy, another so-called "riveting" analysis of Go's garbage collector, because watching memory management is what we all dream about at night. 🙄 Apparently, Green Tea is the new darling, but I bet you didn't actually realize your subscriptions were funding a microscopic tour through the digital landfill, did you? 💸

  3. 🎉 Wow, #Wasmtime 47! 🎉 Apparently, after years of blood, sweat, and tears, we can finally throw #exceptions and collect garbage like it's 1999. 🤦‍♂️ For anyone who thought adding more features would make Wasmtime simpler, congrats, you played yourself! 🏆

  4. 🚀 Wow, what a revelation! #Preemption is like garbage collection... for memory reordering! Because clearly, nothing says "cutting edge" like comparing your CPU's #multitasking quirks to trash management 101. 🗑️🧠

  5. 🚮🎨 Ah, the "art" of garbage collection! Because nothing screams excitement like automatic memory management, amirite? 😴✨ This updated edition promises to make memory management "interesting"—because who wouldn't want a front-row seat to the thrill ride of... memory leaks? 🎢💾

  6. @ascherbaum

A couple of hundred gigs is very impressive.

My mac actually goes back almost as far
as that as I keep rolling things forward,
    mail, src, writings, etc.

I wish I knew what was safer to delete from
the macos. Containers? All Caches? Chrome.
Does anything really care about the mutilated file tree of iTunes?

I can no longer just eliminate that which I
    do not recognize as useful.

  7. The Medley Interlisp environment has a reference-counting garbace collector that provides better performance with interactive applications. The limitations are that the facility doesn't reclaim circular structures and some other data, and the reference count table is of fixed size.

  8. If anyone is interested, I released the crate on crates.io :neocat:
    https://crates.io/crates/gomi

Keep in mind it's still highly experimental but it's really promising. It should work in the majority of cases? I hope? If anyone wants to ̶b̶e̶ ̶m̶y̶ ̶g̶u̶i̶n̶e̶a̶ ̶p̶i̶g̶ give it a try, feedback is greatly appreciated.
