Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya was the fourth Spiritual Successor (Khalifa)
of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti of Ajmer — the founder of the illustrious Order of Chishti saints in the subcontinent. He was specially selected by his Murshid (Preceptor) Khwaja Fariduddin Ganjshakar, for this responsibility because of his unique merits as a learned scholar, an able and diligent administrator and a perfect Spiritual Master.#HazratNizamuddin #Sufism #Culture #GangaJamuni #SanjhiVirasat #India

Something amazing happens at the Dargah of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya in Delhi every year to mark the festival of Basant.
The Sufi Shrine basks in bright yellow. Devotees sing and dance. There is joy. There is bliss. There is faith.
And behind the celebration is a story rooted in the shared culture of #GangaJamuni that we treasure and cherish as a nation.Thread on #SufiBasant at the Dargah of #HazratNizamuddin in #NewDelhi

It's the 716th Urs of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya. And one of the very few that I couldn't be a part of in so many years. If you are in #Delhi #NewDelhi please go to the Dargah and immerse yourself in the musical bliss of qwwalis and mysticism.
The celebrations are from December 15th to 19th 2019.

Humayun's tomb is a charbagh with pools joined by channels. The mausoleum stands on a high, wide terraced platform. The location of the tomb is very significant and holy because of its vicinity to the Dargah of Sheikh Nizamuddin Aulia, a 14th Century Sufi Saint.

Humayun's Tomb is the sub-continent's first garden tomb. The first grand mausoleums that the Mughals had built. And you will be surprised to know that this Tomb was the inspiration for Taj Mahal at Agra. Built in the 1560's under the patronage of the great emperor Akbar. It is also a perfect example of Indo-Persian architecture.
