My new study examines which World Health Organization diagnostic criteria for #gambling and #gaming disorder may play a more central (core) or less central (peripheral) role in high-risk individuals.
tl;dr: core criteria for both disorders are very similar (with a small difference); 2) the most prominent symptom for both disorders is the experience of significant distress/functional impairments; and 3) although endorsing all criteria is a requirement for diagnosis, not all criteria are made equal.
