What do my fellow #4X fans think of the #Civ7 reveal? Civ6 felt like a sideways step for me, and it's seems like the #4X field is getting a bit more crowded with stuff like #Stellaris, #OldWorld, and #Humankind. Do we think #Civilization takes the crown back? Or is the genre gonna be more fragmented with communities forming around several niches.

Insomma, seguire gli eventi più grandi da casa può essere utile da diversi punti di vista:
- perché alla fine anche gli sviluppatori devono giocare ai videogiochi ogni tanto
- per gli occasionali spunti di ispirazione
- per quei pochi spazi concessi alla scena indie
- per sapere come non vogliamo diventare e creare qualcosa di diverso 🙃

Gli eventi correlati consistono in attività diverse, bandi e concorsi non direttamente associati all'evento principale, e talvolta offrono opportunità per gli indie (#Gameson ha un'area speciale apposita, e val la pena anche per dare un'occhiata e per capire i tipi di giochi sulla piazza).

I grandi eventi danno visibilità online e opportunità di conoscere altri compagni della scena indie (che è sempre bene).

Questo oltre a tenerci informati e aggiungere titoli (quei pochi validi ed ispirati) alle nostre (infinite) wishlist.
Seguire le presentazioni aiuta ad aver le idee più chiare sui nostri giochi, a raffinare la propria comunicazione
(per esempio, creando trailer ad impatto) e scegliere il linguaggio giusto.

Anche assistere a presentazioni che riteniamo sbagliate, aiuta a capire come vogliamo che i nostri giochi NON siano.
O come la nostra organizzazione non deve diventare.

Perché seguire gli eventi come #Gamescon quando non si ha l’opportunità di andarci?

È noto che la scena #Indie non apprezza questo tipo di eventi, dato che rappresenta tutto ciò che per loro di sbagliato c'è nell'industria.
È pur vero che ci sono annunci, le presentazioni, le tavole rotonde, gli eventi correlati.
Questi possono fornire spunti interessanti per #gamedev e #indiedev più piccoli.

Let's talk about the biggest moment of #Gamescon so far, petting the dog in the #CrimsonDesert trailer. As someone who's worked on a "pet the dog" moment, I was initially impressed that they played it on a slope. Aligning a 2-actor animation on a slope is a pain, doubly so when one has 4 legs and needs special IK. But then I looked closer and... What's going on here? WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO THIS POOR DOGGO?
