Techscaler Announces 10-Studio Scottish Cohort Heading to Gamescom 2026
Techscaler – the Scottish Government startup incubator programme delivered by CodeBase – has officially unveiled the 10 Scottish game development studios selected for its upcoming trade delegation to Gamescom 2026.
The founders will travel to Cologne, Germany, from 26–30 August to represent Scotland’s gaming ecosystem on the international stage. The mission aims to connect homegrown talent with global publishers, investors, platform holders, and commercial partners during the world’s largest gaming trade event.
Prioritising Market Readiness
To ensure maximum commercial impact in Cologne, Techscaler prioritised studios with products and services further along in their development cycles. The selected cohort highlights the diversity of Scotland’s games sector, spanning original indie IP, digital fashion, serious games, emerging tech platforms, and specialised co-development studios.
The 10 companies representing Scotland in Cologne are:
- Box of Greebles (Glasgow): A writer-led development studio founded by Stark Holborn, whose team members have contributed narrative work to acclaimed titles including Shadows of Doubt, Nivalis, and Cloudpunk.
- Fish Tin Games (Dundee): Led by James Rodgers, the Dundee-based indie developer behind the upcoming horror title The Zhukov Line.
- Fochram Arts: Independent studio founded by Chris Fotheringham, specialising in titles for emerging platforms including the WOWCube.
- Haggis Studio (Perthshire): Founded by Kitten Summers, a digital fashion and game studio producing 3D digital apparel alongside game development.
- JBSB Studios (Dundee): Led by John Bradley, a studio dedicated to making science and engineering accessible through interactive design.
- Ping Creates (Stirling): Digital creative agency headed by Jason Wagner, producing apps, games, animations, and interactive web experiences.
- Rogue Link (Glasgow): Micro co-development studio founded by Ronan Suess, specialising in technical and games development support.

Important for those planning to attend #gamescom while staying in Düsseldorf, Neuss or Dormagen: The entire route from Düsseldorf to Benrath, Leverkusen and Cologne Mühlheim will be closed due to construction work.
However: There's a train once per hour, the RE6, which I'm sure will be completely overcrowded, but... at least it's a train, not a replacement service bus.
In addition, you can take the S8 to Neuss and then change to the RE7 to Rheine.
If anyone needs help finding their way to the trade fair on Wednesday, I'll be happy to help!

All gamescom Business 5 Days passes give you access to gamescom dev(!) on Monday and Tuesday as well as rest of gamescom (including business center) from Wednesay -> Friday.
The cheapest option to be able to visit all venues is a gamescom Business 5 Days basic for 232.50 € which gives you access to gamescom dev (but not for the talks - only expo floor and side events) and the rest of gamescom.
This gives you a Monday -> Friday experience!I hope this helps
