LG has now "strongly denied recent claims that its smart TVs constantly log and upload data". However, no such claims were made by #GamersNexus - at least in the video I saw.
It seems that some people reporting and commenting on the video jumped to hasty conclusions. If you watch the video carefully, GN doesn't claim that the TVs would be recording or performing speech-to-text constantly. The recording only occurs when you prompt the device to do so (however, the device stays in this mode for a long while, it seems, and the microphone is super sensitive and capable of capturing audio from quite a distance away).
What likely confused people was the fact that the video also covered the topic of compromising the device and then using it for recording or surveillance. In this situation, the normal operation of the device is maliciously modified in order to use the device as a listening device. When this is successfully done, all restrictions or limitations are naturally bypassed. Apparently some of the LG TVs also have vulnerabilities that allow taking over the devices remotely, over the network. Notably LG didn't comment on the existence of such vulnerabilities.

This is a false choice. Choose security and they install malware that erodes your privacy. Choose privacy, and they compromise your security, which ultimately destroys your privacy anyway.
