  7. Turns out my PC was too recent to play nice with a PCI Sound blaster game port; older Dell with Debian 12 and janky setup to the rescue. I managed to successfully test all 5 analog joysticks and half the gamepads at least as two button game controllers.

  12. Okay, I have two PCI SoundBlaster cards with a gameport - both cards work fine as sound cards on Ubuntu 24.04, but no success using a joystick on the gameport.

Anyone know of a live usb Linux distro version that supports the legacy gameport? Preferably something that is less than 15 years old. Only doing this to test old joysticks/gamepads so it doesn't have to be good at anything else.

    Thank you.

Edit: please only answer if you have personal experience with the above (PC gameport controllers on Linux); looking up possible solutions on search engines and testing them out is something I've already done, which is why I'm asking here.

  17. I'm avoiding a tough soldering job on the giant #GravisGamePad project, so here's my home-made, proof-of-concept #Audigy #Gameport
adapter - soon, owners of a #CreativeLabs #SoundBlaster SB0240, SB0350, SB0360, SB0900 or SB0090 card (I *think* this covers the compatibility list) will have somewhere to plug in their Gravis GamePads*!

*Other brands of gamepad are available.
