Про режимы у геймпадов подключаемых к Android-устройствам, начиная с 11-й версии Android (включая 12-ю и 13-ю).
Есть три основных режима работы: Android, Switch и PlayStation (DS4).
Устройство может поддерживать работу в двух ил трёх из этих режимов — текущий выбирается на контроллере геймпада, через физический переключатель или зажатием нескольких кнопок.
Режим Android
Подключившись к ОС, устройство сообщает Android'у о себе, что является стандартным мобильным периферийным устройством. Частота опроса очень часто ограничена в районе 100...125 Гц.
Ради экономии заряда батареи и снижения нагрузки на процессор, так называемый стандартный медленный «слой» эмуляции HID.
Режим Switch
Это когда контроллер геймпада эмулирует Nintendo Switch Pro Controller и работает по протоколу Nintendo частота. Хорошо тем, что частота опроса составляет 250...500 Гц. Благодаря этому отзывчивость на движения стика более плавная и почти моментальная реакция на всякие нажатия.
Режим PlayStation (DS4)
Та же схема, что и со Switch-режимом:- Частота опроса (Polling Rate) типичная для стандартов Sony (обычно 250 Гц).
- Устройство имеет максимальный приоритет обработки ввода (очереди в ОС).
- На аппаратном уровне работают встроенные гироскоп и акселерометр.
Отличие в том, что сохраняется аналоговый ход курков — работают как отдельные оси, а не просто кнопки-переключатели.
Базовая раскладка ABXY
Геймпад в разных режимах, может слать сигналы американской/европейской раскладке или же азиатской:- кнопкой подтверждения является «Крест», которая внизу, там где кнопка «A» на Xbox
- кнопка подтверждения находится справа (японская раскладка).
У ряда моделей поменять менять эту раскладку (ABXY) можно дополнительной комбинацией клавиш. Например, сперва зажать на секунду две клавиши для переключений режима геймпада, а после этого сразу две других на пару секунд для перехода из азиатской раскладки в европейскую. После смены режима светодиод какой-нибудь сменит цвет с оранжевого на синий, а с переключением раскладки помограет какими-то цветами.
Режим маппинга G-Touch / V-Touch
У геймпадов работающих именно в Android-режиме можно активироваться специальный суб-протокол для работы с фирменным приложением. Для использования в играх, которые умеют использовать только сенсорный ввод пользователя. Для таких прилжоений G-Touch имитирует нажатия на экран поверх игры через система экранных оверлеев.- При включённом маппинге геймпад может светить как-то иначе светодиодами.
- Для ОС выглядит как передача сырых данных ввода (raw HID) в приложение маппинга.
Турбо режим
Это вообще про другое — про нажатие кнопок, когда геймпад позволяет одну кнопку нажимать в три-четыре раза реже, чем требуется для совершения действий в игре. Поскольку банально эмулирует многократные нажатия этой указанной ему кнопки.
Т.е. когда геймпад почему-то вдруг начал многократно дублировать нажатие какой-то кнопки, то это может быть не дефект и не поломка, а т.н. «турбо-режим».
У всяких обжимающие-охватывающих устройство (как тот же GameSir X5 Lite Type-C) может быть подключение не только через Type-C разъём, но и один-два беспроводных вариантов с несколькими дополнительными нюансами.

And say what you like about the AA-batteries, but I much prefer long 40h battery life that I can easily hotswap without ever going wired for recharging.
AA rechargable batteries and chargers are dirt cheap and you never have to worry about some inner battery degrading over time and not holding a charge anymore.
I wish they'd do an 8bitdo and provide both: an included battery and the ability to pop in double As. That's be even sweeter!

#bluetooth ist der wohl dämlichste, beschissenste, dümmste, idiotischste Funk-Standard in der IT, seit seiner Erfindung! Kein Jahrzehnt, in dem ich mich an Bluetooth nicht ärgere. Die Industrie schafft es einfach nicht, BT-Geräte wie etwa #gamepads bedienerfreundlich zu gestalten. Elend *grummel*

So, I've got also this pimped #asrock #deskmini with a more recent 5th gen #Ryzen and 64gb ram. It was my "#gaming" living room pc, connected to the TV and some #gamepads. I've got no more time to play now that I'm a dad, so it will be of better use in the #server #rack. I mean, it uses like 8w in idle, but can scale to over 65w under full load. A little but capable machine!
And also, it supports NVME drives. (Continues...) -

My remaining DualShock 3 controller finally died a few months ago, so I bought a DualSense, since I've used PlayStation gamepads all my life. And I must say, that the change in dimensions has being an odd adjustment, being accustomed to a smaller size.
I considered a DualShock 4, but I haven't got a PS4, so finally decided on the newer controller.
Thus far, I haven't got any major complaints. I'd like the touchpad to work out of the box as a mouse on Windows, but Steam takes care of that for the most part.

I have a lot of #gameControllers, some #USB, some #Bluetooth. I find that I often go to use my #8bitdo #controllers and the buttons are mapped wrong for whatever reason.
Does #lazyweb recommend any software for managing #gamepad button mappings? Mostly interested in Windows but cross-platform #foss is always nice. Would be cool to not have to reconfigure every time I set up a new PC!

DualShock 4 (of PS4) controller was supported unofficially via "hid-sony" since Linux 3.15 - but now things get official :linux:

This particular driver already included (PS5 introduced) official DualSense / DualSense Edge gamepad support.
You can also connect MULTIPLE DualSense gamepads via Bluetooth.
