If there is one sport where being on your home turf matters most, it’s soccer.
In 2023-24, the home club claimed victory in 44% of matches.
If you are brand new to soccer, yes…44% is massive considering there are also draws.
Last season Liverpool won 15 of their 19 home matches at historic Anfield, losing only once.

Scoring was UP in 2023/24
Last season the average score in the EPL was 3.28 goals per match.
That is a sizable jump from 2.85 in 2022/23, while the average over the previous 5 seasons is 2.9 goals per match.

Keep in mind that BTTS has typically been a 50% proposition in the past. So it’s possible that:
1.) Last season was an anomaly
Or
2.) It wasn’t…and books may take a while to catch up
Definitely a a market worth monitoring.

The most popular halftime score? 0-0
- This happened 25% of the time
The most popular final score? 1-1
- This happened 10% of the time
The takeaway?
First of all, betting on the exact score is a mistake. Especially the final score.
But there are clearly more goals scored in the 2nd half, which creates an opportunity for the betting the Over on 2nd goals.
If the halftime score is nil-nil 25% of the time and the league average is Over 2.5 goals per game, you do the math…
24.6% of goals were scored AFTER the 76th minute last season, up from the 5-year average of 22%.
This no doubt is partially due to desperation and garbage time. But all goals count the same!

Look for showdowns with a high total, or popular derby matches, for an opportunity to bet the Over on aggressive play.
