There's fir & cedar #trees - #growing out of the decaying old #dock #wood - which used to be a loading area for long abandoned fish saltery/cannery/fish nets sorting station. #Nature is incredibly #resilient & if left alone, it will #reclaim anything man has built.

In 1881 the #AlertBay #Canning Co. added a canning line to their existing #salmon #saltery .Purchased by #BCPackersAssociation in 1902. It closed in 1933 & re-opened for two seasons in 1940-1941.
