We are excited to announce that starting from today, users can now download the One UI 8 update to their Galaxy Z Fold4 and Flip4 foldables in Europe as Samsung has finally released this exciting version of One UI. Your Galaxy has now become more powerful as One UI 8 brings more powerful features.
The firmware information states:
To obtain the update, perform the following steps:
After you perform the above steps, your phone will be running One UI 8 based on Android 16, and you can enjoy its new features and with many improvements on place. This makes sure that your experience gets improved.
If you still didn’t get the update for your device, wait for a few days or a few weeks, then check for updates again. If you still see “Your software is up to date,” this means that the update didn’t reach your region yet.
Note that the update process may take 15 to 20 minutes, and this can vary from device to device. The download process may incur extra charges if you’re using the cellular network as the update size is around 5 GB, depending on the device, so we recommend downloading it through Wi-Fi. Galaxy AI Showcase: Generative Wallpapers
Galaxy AI was first unveiled in the Galaxy Unpacked event that took place this January. The full suite is currently available for all flagship devices that are released on 2024, 2023, and 2022. This article showcases the generative wallpaper feature that is part of the Galaxy AI suite.
Generative wallpapers are computer-generated wallpapers that can be made using just a prompt text describing the image that you want. However, Galaxy AI’s approach is different, giving you presets of generative wallpapers under the following categories:
To start using this feature, hold on to the empty area of your home screen and tap “Wallpaper and Style.” Then, tap on “Change wallpapers.” Scroll down until you see “Generative” icon that looks like this:
Tap on it, and you’ll be presented with all your recently generated wallpapers, as well as all the available sections mentioned above.
To create a new generated wallpaper, select one of the 9 types. For example, we’ve selected “Mineral.” You’ll be presented with a screen that allows you to customize how your image will be generated. Every word that is in bold in the image prompt can be edited.
Then, press any bold word that you want to change, and you’ll see options that you can use to change the prompt. For example, if we want to change the mineral, press the bold mineral name, such as galena. You’ll be able to select one of the types that you can generate your wallpaper with.
For example, if you want to generate a wallpaper that consists of an aquamarine, choose it from the list of materials. When you’re done editing your prompt, click on the Generate button at the bottom of the screen. After a few moments, you’ll be able to see four generated wallpapers that are built on the same prompt.
Choose anything that you like, or click on the Generate button to regenerate the wallpapers. If you found anything you like, press the Set button found at the bottom of each wallpaper. You’ll be able to choose whether to set it on home, lock, or both screens.
Finally, press the Done button when you’ve made your final adjustments. This way, you’ll have generated the wallpaper.

Flipa można złożyć pod dowolnym i dzięki funkcji Flex, która dzieli ekran na pół, można go postawić na jakiejkolwiek w miarę płaskiej powierzchni, aby wykorzystać jako statyw. Ta funkcja obejmuje wszystkie aparaty, zależnie od okoliczności – przedni i tylnie.
Można go postawić na dolnej połowie, a górną zgiąć pod odpowiednim kątem, aby zrobić zdjęcie portretowe.
Alternatywnie można go delikatnie zgiąć, aby postawić poziomo. Korzystałem z tego kilkukrotnie i jest to niezwykle wygodne.
Podgląd na tylnym ekranie
Podwójne kliknięcie przycisku włącz/wyłącz uruchomi aparat, co jest szczególnie przydatne, gdy telefon jest zamknięty. Zachowanie dwukliku można zmieniać w Ustawieniach, ale domyślne jest najbardziej przydatne. Dzięki temu ekranowi możemy sobie robić selfie za pomocą głównych obiektywów, które robią lepsze zdjęcia niż aparat przedni. Przydaje się tutaj wykorzystanie funkcji statywu. Selfie można wyzwolić pojedynczym klikiem w przycisk zwiększania głośności lub po pacnięciu w ekran – to drugie dodatkowo uruchamia timer, więc mamy czas, aby się odpowiednio ustawić. Alternatywnie możemy po prostu wyciągnąć płaską dłoń w kierunku aparatu, co również wyzwoli timer i finalnie zrobi zdjęcie.
Tryb Flex
Domyślnie wyłączony dla aplikacji trzecich tryb Flex pozwala dzielić nie tylko aparat, ale również aplikacje trzecie na pół, aby rozdzielić ich funkcjonalność. Przykładowo, na górnej połowie można włączyć sobie przeglądarkę, a na dolnej połowie klawiaturę albo touchpada. To pozwoli nam postawić Flipa np. na stole, podczas innej czynności, i obsługiwać go jednym palcem bez przeszkód. Działa to też szczególnie ciekawie z YouTube’em albo innymi aplikacjami wideo.
Gesty za pomocą czytnika linii papilarnych
W Ustawieniach gorąco zachęcam do włączenia gestów dla czytnika linii papilarnych, które umożliwiają np. ściągnięcie Powiadomień z góry ekranu na jego połowę, a potem drugim gestem, na pełny ekran. Flip ma w końcu 6,7-calowy ekran, którego nie da się sprawnie obsłużyć jedną ręką, jeśli nie jest się koszykarzem NBA, więc ten gest jest absolutnym must have, bo dzięki niemu sięgniemy do górnej części ekranu bez sięgania do górnej części ekranu.
Pełny ekran
Ustawienia również skrywają zaawansowaną funkcję w sekcji Labs, która umożliwia włączenie trybu pełnoekranowego. Ten tryb uruchamia się gestem – machnięcie dwoma palcami z dołu ekranu do góry – po czym znika górny pasek statusu oraz dolny pasek nawigacyjny, co daje nam do dyspozycji pełne 6,7”.
Zegar na zewnętrznym ekranie
Galaxy Z Flip4 na plecach, obok aparatów, ma dodatkowy zewnętrzny ekran, który nie tylko skrywa widgety czy podgląd tego, co widzi aparat, bez konieczności otwierania telefonu, ale przede wszystkim umożliwia zmianę wyglądu domyślnego zegara. Choć ustawiony motyw i jego prosta elegancja najbardziej do mnie trafia, możemy go zmienić na jedną z wielu domyślnych propozycji, od prostych projektów do kolorowych designów. Każdy układ można też dodatkowo zmodyfikować, np. pod kątem kolorów.
Ukrywanie wycięcia na aparat selfie
Jeżeli oglądacie poziome wideo, to warto wejść do Ustawień i wybrać, dla których aplikacji ukryte jest wycięcie w ekranie na przedni aparat. Ta opcja jest domyślnie wyłączona, ale dzięki temu będziecie mogli zobaczyć pełne, nieobcięte wideo, a wycięcie na kamerę będzie schowane.
Zadbajcie o swoje bezpieczeństwo
Flip ma dziesiątki ciekawych, ukrytych funkcji, jak te wymienione powyżej, ale pamiętajcie o najważniejszym – włączeniu backupowania treści na telefonie, szczególnie zdjęć. Znam osoby, które trzymają na swoich smartfonach setki gigabajtów zdjęć, które nie są w żaden sposób zabezpieczone. Utrata smartfona, poprzez zniszczenie czy kradzież, spowoduje utratę tych bezcennych wspomnień.
