Un Samsung Galaxy S24 explotó en la mano de su usuario en Corea del Sur

Un usuario surcoreano denunció que su Galaxy S24 emitió humo, generó calor extremo y explotó mientras navegaba por internet sin estar conectado a la corriente. No es un caso aislado: la serie S24 acumula varios reportes similares y una actualización de software reciente agravó los problemas de batería en miles de dispositivos (Fuente Reddit).

El 11 de mayo de 2026, un usuario en Corea del Sur vivió un momento de terror con su smartphone. La persona denunció que su Galaxy S24 comenzó a emitir humo de forma repentina, generó calor extremo y finalmente explotó mientras navegaba por internet. El teléfono no estaba conectado al cargador en ese momento. Según el relato publicado en Reddit, el dispositivo primero comenzó a hincharse rápidamente, luego emitió humo, calor extremo y finalmente estalló en la mano del usuario. La parte inferior del teléfono se abrió durante el incidente, lo que habría atenuado la gravedad de las lesiones, limitándolas a ampollas menores por quemadura.

Existe además un post eliminado de Reddit de 2024 en el que se mostraba un Galaxy S24 Ultra que supuestamente había tomado fuego, aunque la baja frecuencia de estos reportes en relación al volumen de ventas de la serie sugiere que por ahora se trata de casos aislados.

El panorama se complica porque la línea S24 ya venía sufriendo otro problema de batería de naturaleza diferente pero igualmente preocupante. Desde la actualización de seguridad de abril de 2026, propietarios de Galaxy S24 y S25 comenzaron a reportar un drenaje de batería severo y sobrecalentamiento inusuales. Algunos usuarios indicaron que su batería se agotaba en menos de tres horas, mientras que otro reportó que su teléfono llegaba a cero en apenas dos horas de uso normal. Varios usuarios identificaron a Knox Matrix, la plataforma de seguridad de Samsung profundamente integrada en el hardware del dispositivo, como la posible responsable del consumo excesivo de recursos en segundo plano.

Tried the new Lando Norris Monster Energy Zero Sugar and let me tell you, I know neither who Lando Norris is nor what flavor it was supposed to be.

Apparently, it's supposed to be some kind of melon based drink. I don't know. I couldn't tell.

It was fine and sweet. Literally, sweet. Probably won't drink again, but it's unoffensive.

Galaxy S24 and Z Fold/Flip6 One UI 8.5 beta builds spotted!

Last week, the Galaxy Z Fold/Flip7 series entered the One UI 8.5 Beta Program as an effort to expand the beta program to more flagship devices. This came 3 months after the Galaxy S25 series joined the program.

Today, a new development emerged, because the Galaxy Z Fold/Flip6 series and the Galaxy S24 series have started internally testing the One UI 8.5 beta builds, as spotted by Tarun Vats.

This suggests that the One UI 8.5 beta program for these devices will be opened soon, for a subset of countries like Korea, USA, and India. The forums will be opened for these devices once the program officially starts, with the expected duration being in a week or two.

However, Samsung has also started testing the One UI 8.5 beta builds for both the Galaxy S25 FE and the Galaxy S24 FE, which is unusual for Samsung’s beta programs, as the FE variants are usually excluded from the program.

Once the beta program opens for all these devices, we’ll inform you.

Tried Monster Ultra Paradise recently.

I liked it, but couldn't discern exactly what the flavor was supposed to be. So, I looked it up.

Apparently, it's supposed to be "...kiwi and lime with a hint of cucumber." I didn't get any hints of cucumber or lime, but I could see kiwi. Kind of.

It was good, though. I liked it.

It tasted like red fruit punch.

So, at Dollar General I saw G-Fuel's Knuckles the Echidna energy drink called Sour Power. A sucker for gimmicky energy drinks and Sonic the Hedgehog characters, I had to get it.

The flavor is "Sour Power" and let me tell you...it tastes like sweet malic acid. Malic acid is what they put on Sour Patch Kids and other sour candies to make them taste sour. This taste like liquid malic acid with some artificial sugars added in. No specific flavoring, just sweetness.

It was...odd. Not terrible, but odd.

Wouldn't get again.

I liked it.

Went back to Lidl to do some grocery shopping over the weekend and found another Kong Strong energy drink. This one was called "Wild Power" and looked the size of a Red Bull.

It was also 2 for $1.

So, I bought two of the sugar free versions to try later. Let me tell you...it tastes like a Sugar Free Red Bull.

That's it. It's a fantastic, cheaper replacement if you like Red Bull and are on a tighter budget.

Will get again. In fact, plan to stock up next time we're at Lidl.

To rzadka sytuacja, gdy sprzęt, który nosimy w kieszeni, otrzymuje ten sam poziom zaufania, co wyposażenie militarne.

Samsung poinformował właśnie o zakończeniu procesu badań i certyfikacji ochrony kryptograficznej dla swoich flagowców – serii Galaxy S23 oraz S24. Oznacza to, że „cywilne” smartfony z platformą Knox zostały dopuszczone do użytku w środowisku Sił Zbrojnych RP.

Smartfon z cywila na poligonie

Kluczowym pojęciem jest tutaj COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf), czyli wykorzystanie gotowych, dostępnych na rynku rozwiązań w zastosowaniach specjalistycznych. Do niedawna wojsko kojarzyło się z ciężkimi, szyfrowanymi „cegłami”, produkowanymi na specjalne zamówienie za ogromne pieniądze.

Decyzja o certyfikacji seryjnych modeli Galaxy S23 i S24 to zmiana paradygmatu. Proces ewaluacji potwierdził, że zaimplementowane w nich mechanizmy bezpieczeństwa (w ramach platformy Samsung Knox) spełniają rygorystyczne wymagania dotyczące ochrony kryptograficznej. Mówiąc prościej: sposób, w jaki te telefony szyfrują dane, został uznany za wystarczająco bezpieczny dla potrzeb armii.

Co to daje?

Dla wojska to czysty zysk operacyjny i finansowy:

• Czas: wdrożenie gotowego produktu jest natychmiastowe – nie trzeba czekać latami na prototypy.
• Interoperacyjność: nowoczesne smartfony łatwiej integrować z istniejącymi systemami zarządzania polem walki czy komunikacją.

Zaufanie do krzemu

Tomasz Chomicki z Samsunga (odpowiedzialny za współpracę z sektorem publicznym) podkreśla, że projekt ten jest dowodem na to, że administracja państwowa i globalny gigant technologiczny mogą grać do jednej bramki. Budowa zaufania w obszarze cyberbezpieczeństwa jest dziś kluczowa.

Dla nas, zwykłych użytkowników, płynie z tego prosty wniosek: jeśli zabezpieczenia Galaxy S24 są wystarczająco dobre dla Sił Zbrojnych RP, to prawdopodobnie nasze dane bankowe i prywatne zdjęcia również są pod dobrą opieką.

Samsung releases the January 2026 security patch for the Galaxy S24 series

January 2026 is here, and Samsung have focused on releasing the January 2026 security patch for the majority of Galaxy users worldwide. As per their rollout schedule for security updates, Samsung have released the January 2026 security patch to the Galaxy S24 users, starting from the Korean version.

The following firmware information is found:

• SM-S928N: S928NKSS4CZA1 [KOO, SKC, KTC, LUC]
• SM-S926N: S926NKSSCCZA1 [KOO, SKC, KTC, LUC]
• SM-S921N: S921NKSSCCZA1 [KOO, SKC, KTC, LUC]

To update your Galaxy to this security update, follow these steps:

1. Open Settings, and navigate to System Update
2. Tap on Check for Updates
3. Press Download Now
4. Wait until the download is complete, then press Install Now
5. Wait until the phone installs the update successfully

Make sure that you’re connected to a stable and fast Wi-Fi network to avoid high mobile data fees. Never interrupt the update in any way, or problems could occur later. Make sure that you apply all available updates once you update your phone for maximum stability. An update might take 5 to 10 minutes to apply, depending on the device and the type of the update being applied.

If you’re seeing “Your software is up to date,” this means that the update hasn’t reached your device yet. Keep checking for updates, as Samsung rolls it out gradually to all devices from country to country, usually starting from Korea.

I found a Lidl grocery store for the first time not far from me.

There I saw this Kong energy drink. It looked like a White Ultra Monster, so snagged one for 99¢ to try the next day.

It was not like a White Ultra Monster. It tasted like what would happen if Monster and Red Bull had a baby and bottled it up.

That's not a complaint, I still liked it, it's just a comment on the flavor.

For reference, this can has 140 mg of caffeine and does contain guaran extract, if that's something you are concerned about.

But, overall, would try again. Next time with updated expectations.

In addition to that, the beta program is finally open to those who are living in the following countries:

This means that everyone living in the above countries can now try out One UI 8.5 in its beta form! If you still don’t have the banner in your Samsung Members app, wait for a few minutes up to a few hours, and you should start seeing the banner.

To join the Beta program, open Samsung Members, go to Beta Program section, and find “One UI 8.5 S25 Beta.”

Afterwards, follow the instructions on the screen. If everything is OK, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. You’ll get the screen that looks similar to this:

Let it download, but it’s going to take a bit of time depending on your Internet connection. Afterwards, click on the Install button.

Remember: never interrupt the update process during the installation phase, and make sure that your phone is fully charged before proceeding. This is a precaution intended to avoid interruptions. For some markets, it’s advisable to put your device in a well-ventilated room to avoid green lines caused by heat in some AMOLED panels.
