Samsung retira oficialmente el soporte de software para la serie Galaxy S21

Tras cinco años de actualizaciones constantes, Samsung ha puesto punto final al soporte técnico de la familia Galaxy S21. Los modelos S21, S21+ y S21 Ultra han desaparecido del calendario oficial de actualizaciones de febrero de 2026, marcando el cese de parches de seguridad y mejoras del sistema para estos icónicos dispositivos (Fuente Samsung Mobile).

El ciclo de vida del Galaxy S21 ha llegado a su conclusión. Lanzada originalmente en enero de 2021 con Android 11, la serie cumplió con la promesa de Samsung de ofrecer cuatro grandes actualizaciones de Android (culminando en Android 15 con One UI 7 el año pasado) y un total de cinco años de mantenimiento de seguridad. Tras pasar los últimos meses en un esquema de actualizaciones trimestrales, la compañía ha decidido retirar los dispositivos de su lista de soporte activo este mes.

¿Qué significa esto para los usuarios?

Si aún utilizas un Galaxy S21, el teléfono no dejará de funcionar mañana, pero sí entra en una fase de vulnerabilidad progresiva:

• Sin parches de seguridad: Ya no recibirás protección contra nuevas amenazas o exploits descubiertos a partir de febrero de 2026.
• Sin nuevas funciones: El dispositivo se quedará permanentemente en One UI 7.
• Obsolescencia de Apps: Aunque las aplicaciones actuales seguirán funcionando, con el paso de los años dejarán de ser compatibles con versiones antiguas de Android.

Es importante notar que el Galaxy S21 FE ha logrado esquivar este destino por ahora. Al haber sido lanzado un año después que sus hermanos mayores, Samsung lo ha mantenido en el calendario de actualizaciones, aunque ha sido degradado al nivel de soporte trimestral, lo que significa que probablemente verá el fin de sus días a principios de 2027.

Samsung releases the January 2026 security patch for the Galaxy S21 series

January 2026 is here, and Samsung have focused on releasing the January 2026 security patch for the majority of Galaxy users worldwide. As per their rollout schedule for security updates, Samsung have released the January 2026 security patch to the Galaxy S21 users, starting from the Korean version.

The following firmware information is found:

• SM-G998N: G998NKSSCHZA5 [KOO, SKC, KTC, LUC]
• SM-G996N: G996NKSSCHZA5 [KOO, SKC, KTC, LUC]
• SM-G991N: G991NKSSCHZA5 [KOO, SKC, KTC, LUC]

To update your Galaxy to this security update, follow these steps:

1. Open Settings, and navigate to System Update
2. Tap on Check for Updates
3. Press Download Now
4. Wait until the download is complete, then press Install Now
5. Wait until the phone installs the update successfully

Make sure that you’re connected to a stable and fast Wi-Fi network to avoid high mobile data fees. Never interrupt the update in any way, or problems could occur later. Make sure that you apply all available updates once you update your phone for maximum stability. Samsung Galaxy A55 gets the One UI 7 update!

We are excited to announce that starting from today, users can now download the One UI 7 update to their Galaxy A55 smartphones as Samsung has finally released this exciting version of One UI. Your Galaxy has now become more powerful, amazing, and gorgeous as One UI 7 brings more powerful features and a redesigned appearance consisting of a simple, impactful, and emotive design.

The Beta program for the A55 has been shut down and it will be released for non-Beta users soon!

Please refer to news sources, such as SamMobile and Sammy Fans, for more rollout news for further devices (we will only cover A55, A35, A25, and A05 [A04e, A04, and A04s are not eligible]).

To obtain the update, perform the following steps:

1. Open the Settings app
2. Navigate to Software Updates
3. Tap on Download and Install
4. Wait until you see One UI 7 at the top of the page, then tap on Download
5. Wait for the download to complete, then tap on Install

After you perform the above steps, your phone will be running One UI 7 based on Android 15, and you can enjoy its new features and with many improvements on place. This makes sure that your experience gets improved.

If you still didn’t get the update for your device, wait for a few days or a few weeks, then check for updates again. If you still see “Your software is up to date,” this means that the update didn’t reach your region yet.

Note that the update process may take 15 to 20 minutes, and this can vary from device to device. The download process may incur extra charges if you’re using the cellular network as the update size is around 5 GB, depending on the device, so we recommend downloading it through Wi-Fi. Never interrupt the update process in any way, or problems may occur. Make sure that your phone gets charged before you initiate the installation process.
