Apple has just announced a number of new accessibility features coming to the iPhone, iPad and Mac:
There are some impressive-seeming innovations for blind and low-vision users, and the ability to create a voice trained on your own speech patterns could be a lifesaver for people with degenerative conditions like ALS
But the highlight for me is the new support for people with cognitive disabilities, who haven’t perhaps been served so well by Apple up to now – this is a welcome first step 🙌
And I was very pleased to read that Apple will be highlighting the advocacy work of Autistic non-speaker and AAC user Jordyn Zimmerman 💜

Accessibility & inclusion are some of our core values here, but today we spent the morning with others from the CMU & Pittsburgh communities who also believe in prioritizing digital access for all.
Now in its 12th year, the purpose of Global Accessibility Awareness Day (#GAAD2023) is to raise awareness of digital access & inclusion for all.
We hope you will join us in raising the bar by including #accessibility as a core requirement in your work.

Talking about the Global #Accessibility Awareness Day #GAAD2023: I always wondered why are the textured tracks in the sidewalk for the blind generally painted yellow if blind people can't even see them. Then it dawned on me that the paint is for sighted but vision-impaired people -
