The iMac G5 Gentoo Resurrection continues.

The kernel compiled cleanly, and now I'm compiling all the packages (and their dependencies) needed to install it, create the initial booting RAMdisk and grub bootloader.

Might grab breakfast while it builds.

So far, the process has been pretty smooth. I may have to repeat this on my G4 tower that I have running NetBSD.

Ran into a couple of snags, but those were my fault and recoverable.

Il y a 20 ans je venais de recevoir mon tout premier #Mac, un #iMac #G5 et je suivais les #JO depuis mon Mac grâce à #EyeTV, JO qui étais à #Turin. et 20 ans plus tard ils sont de nouveaux en #Italie et je les suis de nouveau depuis mon Mac mais aussi depuis mon iPhone.

Ok, had a weekend off and relaxed yesterday night doing some retro computing.
Installed #MacOSXServer #Tiger on the old #PowerMac #G5. Luckily I remembered that this machine does boot from a USB pen drive when ones uses the right commands in #OpenFirmware.

Services started: #blojsom and the #WebObjects server.

#MacOSXTiger a été la version sur laquelle j'ai débarqué en arrivant dans le monde #Apple et je me souviens encore très bien de ce bonheur sur mon #iMac #G5 (fin 2005). À cette époque être sur Mac avait un "goût" différent et plus agréable. C'est difficile à expliquer mais le plaisir était plus grand je crois.
