#g2g — Public Fediverse posts

Live and recent posts from across the Fediverse tagged #g2g, aggregated by home.social.

  1. Wednesday - 143 km out-&-back to #Blyth. These four frames in or near Blyth, including one of the last standing water towers from the age of steam. The last frame is where the long gone London Huron & Bruce line passed over Blyth Brook, steps from where it overflew (via the viaduct seen in my prior post) the former Guelph-Goderich line, now the rail trail we are on.

  3. The Government of #WesternAustralia have released a new version of their application #ServiceWA.

This application was created during #COVID and it simply aggregated information from other Websites.

The company developing #ServiceWA, GenVis, is the same that developed the infamous #G2G application. #G2G was controlled by the State Police, who recently decided to change the data retention period from 30 days to 25 years!

GenVis are an AI startup focused on face identification and data reidentification. I find it peculiar that a company that develops surveillance technology are in charge of these CRUD Government applications.

The point is that the State Government decided to revamp their useless #ServiceWA as yet another bushfire alert tool (of which there is no shortage) based on your location. The Government has already confirmed that these location data will be retained for an unclear period of time and shared with law enforcement agencies as required.
