Hat vielleicht noch jemand ein #fxtecpro1 zu fairem Preis abzugeben. Gerne mit Defekten, solange der USB-Port noch funktioniert.

Dear @Mer__edith and the the amazing @signalapp team,
After the last update, the Signal "desktop app" is requiring us to launch the mobile app - however, many of us do not have the Android or any other "mobile" version of the Signal app any more.
We are a large (by our standards) group of #Linux phone users, and your "desktop" app is our "mobile" app : )
Our previous phones on which #SignalApp was initially activated was an Android or Apple device and we have since then completely migrated to #Linuxphones. Some of us may have registered Signal on #signalcli, Flare, #Molly, Signal Android in #WayDroid, etc.
The #mobileLinux community is growing - we have members spanning a good number of projects and devices, e.g.
- @purism #Librem5 and #LibertyPhone running #Debian-based #PureOS #GnuLinux, #Alpine-based #PostmarketOS or #Mobian,
- @PINE64 #Pinephone and PP Pro running #ManjaroARM, #SailfishOS, etc.
- @furilabs #FLX1 running #Droidian-based #FuriOS,
- a wide variety of Android phones (including OnePlus 6, Google Pixel 3, #Fairphone 4 & 5) running #Alpine-based @postmarketOS ,
- @volla , #Fxtec and #Brax3 devices running #UbuntuTouch by @ubports,
- devices running @mobian which is part of #Debian project, etc.[Apologies to any project I may have failed to include - you are all appreciated]

Alternativ dazu seit eh und jeh "out of stock".
😭
Ich möchte doch nur #Tasten. -

F(x)tec Pro¹ X finally arrived. It was sitting in a warehouse for ages, but thankfully the battery was not dead and it powered up. Shipped with Android, but in about 10 minutes work with the UBports installer, had Ubuntu Touch up and running. Yay!
Yes the slide-out keyboard is a bit fiddly, but it seems worth a try and is no worse than a miniature on-screen keyboard.
UB usually takes a few days to get configured right. Updates to follow

Clicks keyboard case gives the iPhone Pro the physical keys it wasn’t really missing
Most modern smartphones are touchscreen-only devices that let you use virtual keyboards or voice when you want to enter text. But a generation of smartphone users that got their start on BlackBerries and Palm Treos continue to hold a soft spot in their hearts for physical keyboards.
Clicks is a new startup co-founded by some of those folks, including Michael Fisher […] -
For anyone after a #Psion Agenda-like experience on a #MobileLinux #PDA, I've just released v0.2.9 of #Pygenda (alpha, WIP!).
Demo video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvQqFmlZ6nM
GitHub: https://github.com/semiprime/pygenda
v0.2.9 adds two nice new features: repeats like "last Monday in May" and todo item due dates.
I run it on my #GeminiPDA, but it's written in Python/GTK3 so should run on similar keyboard devices. Would love to hear from anyone running it on a #PinePhone, #FXTec #Pro1x, #GPD, #eeePC, #Zaurus, or other!

I've released a new version of #Pygenda, my work-in-progress Psion Agenda-inspired agenda app targeting keyboard #PDA/ #palmtop devices.
Source: https://github.com/semiprime/pygenda
I use it on my Linux-running #GeminiPDA, & someone ran it on a #DevTerm, but it should work on anything with Python3.5+ & GTK3 (for handhelds that probably means Linux). I'd love feedback from anyone running it on other platforms (#PinePhone, #Fxtec #Pro1x, #GPD), and from other fans of #Psion Agenda.

The #SailfishOS #Jolla Community Newsletter is now out, in which we discuss Pine Logs 🌲 (that's PinePhones and Log files 😃). Adam talks about his porting activity (#fxtec #volla #PinePhone) 📱 Damien gives his repository roundup 🐙 and we look at the latest apps in the Jolla Store 📲

@pak0st Yes, I totally agree. The aspect ratio is probably the most divisive feature, but it also works for me. There are other nice tinkerable phones out there (#Pinephone, #Fairphone, #fxtec, #volla... ) which I'd love to try out properly if I had the time.

It has come to my attention that #fxtec did actually hire an engineer to help with that last September. Good job fxtec (for real)!
-
Don't mind me I'm just yelling about how #fxtec promised LineageOS and Ubuntu Touch support for their phone and therefore should be obligated to pay for the porting of those operating systems

Now, I fund the Pro1 X from F(x)tec team. It's linux smart phone and it can run ubports. I wait it. https://igg.me/at/pro1x/x/28073336#/ #pro1x #Fxtec #ubports

Stumbled upon this today: https://community.fxtec.com/topic/3292-pro1-and-pro1-x-design-change-to-use-snapdragon-662-no-new-devices-before-august-2021/page/2/
While the switch to the Snapdragon 662 is unlikely to negatively impact LineageOS and Ubuntu Touch (I hope), it‘s likely a major bummer for the mainline Linux story, which was looking quite good with the 835. #fxtec #pro1x
-
Thanks to @danct12, you can now install #UbuntuTouch on your #Fxtec Pro1 using the @ubports installer!

My new #FxTecPro1 phone finally arrived \0/
But now i need to decide on what to flash on it:
- LineageOS (test build)
- Sailfish OS community build, unfortunately without Android app supportNot gonna let this Play Services filled stock ROM talk to the internet!

The F(x)tec Pro1 #dualSim #Android slider phone looks very neat. It reminds me of the #HTCTyTN2 which I loved.
It has a slide-out physical keyboard, and the screen can be tilted at an angle. It will come with an #Snapdragon835, and they are hoping for #AndroidOne certification.Unfortunately it looks like it will be beyond my budget, with pre-order at 649 USD.
