  1. Since inception in 1951, a 9 mile stretch of #580 MacArthur #FWY thru #Oakland has banned large trucks. Back in 2000 then Gov. Gray Davis reaffirmed this into law barring vehicles of 9,000 pounds+ from the I-580 corridor mainly out of respect for the communities that were split in half when it was built, and who've consistently been promised this back before computers could fit on a desk, or US interventions in Vietnam or Kosovo.

“People were actually displaced and homes were taken from people. There was a commitment made that #trucks would not be on that freeway because these neighborhoods had been destroyed.”

    — CA Assembly member Ellen Corbett

Now 21st century industry influence at #CalTrans see commercial #trucking #lobbyists and industry lawyers circling like hungry buzzards trying to use "environmental justice" arguments and other schemes to squeeze #BigRigs through a mostly residential corridor past San Leandro suburban dwellings, tree lined hills above Oakland Zoo & Lake Merritt to where the autos-only #freeway passes #Mosswood Park and finally hits the diesel dusted truck #traffic of massive #MacArthurMaze by I-880 to #BayBridge corridor.
