  2. I have been reminded of this crazy performance of "Seasons (Waiting on You)" by Future Islands, and felt it very much necessary to share.

  3. Die Future Islands veröffentlichen am 22. Mai ihr neues Album „From a Hole in the Floor to a Fountain of Youth“. Statt einer klassischen Best-of-Sammlung handelt es sich um eine Compilation mit alternativen Versionen, Raritäten und bislang unveröffentlichten Fan-Favoriten. Das Doppelalbum umfasst 20 Songs aus 20 Jahren Bandgeschichte und zeichnet den Weg der Gruppe von […]

  4. FUTURE ISLANDS
    Singles
    2014 UK pressing

Before Singles, I never really cared for Future Islands all that much. Which is odd, because they made two records for Thrill Jockey, a label whose releases Id always loved.

And SINCE Singles, I still don’t really care for them all that much. This record stands as the only album of theirs I’ve ever had any interest for, and most of that interest comes from the album’s first half.

After “A Song For Our Grandfathers”, the album loses steam in a big way for me. But those first six songs have always been more than enough to keep me coming back to it every few years.
And there’s no denying the greatness of “Seasons (Waiting On You)”.

  5. Whenever the weather is nice, I always think of the album Singles by Future Islands. That's my nice weather feelgood music.

And Samuel T. Herring's voice is so unique... it's like a gently purring V8 that could unleash its devastating power at any time. But it barely does. You just know it could, and that's somehow satisfying.
