A lovely Agaricus mystery found growing amongst twinflower plants in a coniferous habitat. Too large and stocky to be A. diminutivus but shares many of the same features including a wonderfully sweet odor. The gills are very free from the stem and are more pallid than pink. Perhaps Agaricus kerriganii?

The colouring of these mushrooms can be quite faded during warm and dry weather with stems that are very bulbous when young. They certainly look more deceiving this way.
