Also known as turtle doves, these birds are known for their haunting, melancholic cooing.

Some interpret a visit from a mourning dove as a message of hope or encouragement from a deceased loved one. Mourning doves also represent peace, love, protection, long life, repentance, and good fortune.

Protip: While these are not the specific type of birds released at funerals and other events, please be aware that dove releases in general are harmful!
